Having watched the children playing in the Rangie section (too scared to join in).

What, in your opinion makes the "essence" of a "LandRover"?
Is it the name?
has it got to be built in Solihull?
has it got to have 4wd?
Does that exlude the Ford Puma, Or the Tata ?? or the BMW TD4?

what makes a LandRover?

true land rovers grow old gracefully, no bells no whistles and hammered together.
P38 and freebie lost there way.

I would say having 'Landrover' written in the log book would probably make it a landrover in the eyes of the law.

proper landies are those made before 1994

Agreed. WYSIWYG. No electrickery, it's just big mecanno really, if it breaks it's normally obvious what has broken and a big hammer will normally fix it! It dunt pretend to be summat it int.

Also when you step out of a brand new shiney audi, everyone thinks yer a tw@ - at least with a landy people don't pre-judge you, they wait till you open your mouth :D:D:D

I quite like the fact that Landrover started out as a prototype single seater tractor!!!

I'd be shocked if as many p38 and freebies last anywhere near a 3 series.

As far as I'm concerned v8 or td or tdi defender the essence of lr, take to a remote part of the world and keep it going. I'd rather go unsupported on a trek in a series than a p38 that could leave you stranded in butt**** nowhere with electrical issues

Are you saying that reliability is what makes a Landrover ? or ease of repair?
Dispite the Oz saying "take a landrover to get you anywhere, but a Toyota to bring yu back again"?
