Checked brake cylinder for the correct size & side of the motor.
It’s all good now & will fit.
as the motor was ex military it’s always fun matching parts to a supposed year.
So it’s a pre 53. now waiting for the correct flexi pipes to arrive. pointless putting old stuff back on to remove in a few years time ;)

You need to get your feet and have a few light beers after tramping round the motherland all week, you'll burn out trying to impress the boss.
 
I received a quote from a local wheel refurbishing company for 288 quid + VAT to clean and powder coat my full set 16" steelies. :eek:
Naw… I'm good mate.

thanks everyone, its pretty much been rebuilt from scratch, would probably have been cheaper to build one from parts ;), with every panel straighten and hammered back to original and a fresh lick of paint. Its kept me occupied through lock down!!
 
@Funonthefarm, the colour really does look a great contrast to the galvanised chassis + all the lines are clean...no bull bars, front of grille driving lights, above cockpit night lighter LED strips et al. Just a simple clean tratter...
 
Cheers @v8250 I appreciate the comments. Want to keep it honest but make it mine. And celebrate the fact it’s got a galv chassis so kept the lower sills in raw ally with clear coat. Still have interior to do, I’ll update as she goes.
 
So after what seems like weeks of removing waxoyl it was time to see how the new crossmember fits, and now it’s Corroless painting time! Messy job but things look better in paint than crust!

So replaced brake cylinder,flexi, spring,shoes on 1 side of the S1 as it was leaking.
But as it’s a landy the O/S decided to break the bleed nipple so I made more work for myself. Change cylinder & flexi & rebleed the system.
Spot oil on the chassis & the only place it can be from is the oil bath filter. So another job lined up..
 
On the way home from Wales on Sunday I thought I could hear a kind of scraping, rattling noise. Seeing as it had stopped raining this morning I went and had a look to see if I could see what it was. I'm still none the wiser. Bearings all rotate smoothly with no slack, no looseness in any propshaft joints, the suspension bushes seem OK. On checking the torque on the bolts I could I could do up a couple of the ones holding the radius arms to the front axle about half a turn. Similarly with the big ones holding the rear A frame to the chassis - they went up half a turn too. They were renewed in the autumn of 2013 when I did my suspension bushes. So I'm not too worried about it - only a tiny bit of movement in nearly 7 years. The bushes themselves seem fine. This wouldn't have been causing the noise though. I think I may just be be getting a bit of brake pad rattle. They were changed in May last year so have now worn down a little, and there's enough room for them to clatter. While I had the tools out I changed the seal on the rear diff as it had been showing a drip of oil on the bottom of the rear axle. New oil in the back axle and off for a test drive. I still hear an occasional scrap-y rattle. But at least I can now be sure that my bearings, bushes and brakes are fit for purpose.
