Ignored the Disco and tried to find out why my daughter's Daewoo Matiz wauldn't fire up..When I went to plug a diagnostic lead into the port there was already a lead plugged in. I unplugged that and the car now runs fine. Turns out it is the insurance black box. Phoned them and they said it is OK to run with it unplugged until they come and sort it. I will ignore threatening emails. The spark plugs, OBD scanner and spark tester tool will come in handy again probably. The wonders of big brother.

I hope you told them it cost you £50 at a garage to find out:D:D:D

Took her for MOT and she passed with no advisories, chassis is solid , Might trade her in soon then

Nothing, just enjoyed driving it today:)

I did find the battery leads from my old disco, look to be about 50mm2 if I've got my measurements correct, perfect for a remote jump point.
The box of bits that 'might come in handy' delivers again :D
 
Started changing the injector seals on the wife's disco TD5. Last year I found a Snap on heel bar wedged by the radiator that a mechanic had left there at least seven years previously. Haven't had much use for it until today - I found it levered out the injector easily. Is there any advantage to removing them all at once or can they be done one at a time?

Either way, just do not mix them up..LOL. I took them all out at the same time after writing the codes down and confirming they were in the correct place using the nanocom.

Did you test the engine with the rocker cover off or did you just assemble it all?
 
After watching a you tube video where they ran their engine without the rocker cover, I thought I would do the same to see if there were any clues that all was not well. The engine ran but I could have seen that with rocker cover in place. I knew there would be a little oil splashed around but there was more than i thought. Oh well, we live and learn.
 
Seems ok. I need to replace rocker cover etc. and then after changing the oil I will monitor level to see if there is any increased level. Fingers crossed. One strange thing was that when I disconnected the fuel lines nothing came out - not even a drop.
 
Changed one panhard rod bush. Steering box end was gooshed, inner tube had come adrift. First bush flared as I was pushing it in. Was more observant with second one. Was about 95% in when it started to flare, so fitted panhard back like that. Axle end bush was still serviceable. I'll have to buy two more bushes and do it again. Took for test drive and steering felt 100%, no wobble at all. It sounded like a V8 so had a look underneath.

Large hole half way around box. Will the through pipe hold it together until I get a new exhaust, or is it likely to snap in half?

I went to pop the bonnet today to top up the screen wash and noticed the battery and ignition were illuminated without keys. Anyhow, popped the keys in a noticed the battery was down to about 9v. Fired it up and it went, but curious what has caused this, everything seems to have gone back to normal, but is this the symptom of a failure?
