Nowt better than touching something up ... or, indeed, ****ing it up ...

Oh, sorry .... were we talking vehicles .... In that case (cough), carry on .. ;)

Off to Derby today to see a colleague.

Seemed a bit smoky on setting off from Derby to come home. It cleared after a hundred yards or so, and didn't come back fortunately.

Finally managed to remove the heater unit, just waiting for the replacement to arrive and ground off some mudguard brackets ready for the new ones - it never ends.

Not too it, but went and collected a new chassis for it at the weekend :)

Took the Air Suspension pump apart and found a completely knackered motor.

Hoping to go and pick up a replacement part tomorrow as really need the car working again by Wednesday (otherwise theres going to be a lot of manually carrying fireworks, safety fencing, etc up a muddy field.... unless the ground dries out enough to get a ford transit across it!)

Really could do with having some worklights working by wednesday as well... fitting them was meant to be today's project but never mind!

Yesterday I sold my old Discovery, it was a sad day I can tell you.
I now do not own an LR.

I just couldn't keep up with the maintenance and as I haven't been off roading for a while (time and money) I just couldn't justify the upkeep an MPG of an aging Disco.

I'll still be hanging around on here though.

Tested it out with a drive across to Bath this afternoon.... the car seems to sit higher than it did on the old compressor - not sure whether thats a calibration issue or whether the old pump just wasnt inflating the air bags as much as it should have done.

The main thing is its back up and working in time for Wednesday. Saves having to haul safety fencing and fireworks up a field by hand!

Today I have treated mine to a snorkel, just need to fit it now, most likely will be first thing I do tomorrow.

Off to Peterborough today. Not quite as far away as I'd hoped:

Had a good look round the cathedral while I was there:

I suspect today's job will be washing the landrover.

Yesterday I spent a day with some friends down in the Salisbury Plain area. The main purpose was to teach a friend, who is new to landrover ownership, what his disco is capable of. Was also a chance to get mine muddy

There were a couple of times where I missed having difflock (having previously owned Disco 1s and driven defenders and other diff-lock equipped vehicles through work). Unfortunately the 3 Amigos put in an appearance again meaning no traction control just when I needed it most... resulting in the indignity of being towed out of a particularly slippery junction of byways by a defender.

Sad to say that, whilst on the plain (mainly the Eastern area around Netheravon and Tidworth as the flags were up on the larkhall ranges) we came across ample supplies of idiots who have no regard for other users of the byways.... and no regard for where they legally can and cannot drive. It is these idiots, who use the bombholes and ponds on the plain as a playground who risk losing this incredible greenlaning resource for all of us.

Off to Nottingham this morning for a meeting.

The Land Rover failed to start this morning. It was a cold one and I had to scrape the ice off the windscreen. I think the battery is starting to struggle now to hold charge in cold weather as it is nearly five years old. The car started perfectly well with the booster on it, so I think it must be battery related. I've ordered another 100Ah and 800 CCA of fizzy goodness to put on for the winter.

Drove from the coast of Norfolk to Spalding for a model railway show, 90 miles each way, three long stretches of dual carriageway en route, and even though I kept my top speed down to 60. I over took more cars on the way than overtook me!! Not bad for a 1984 200tdi engined 110.

More importantly even in today's rain, with all the insulation I've fitted the cab got too hot!! I had to open the vents, and there were no leaks...

Went for a good run out in it today through Buxton then on to Bakewell and Derby
then went home a give her a good wash off

Sat in my office looking out the window at the rain, wishing I could get out there and do the fix to get rid of my 3 Amigos now that i've got the part.
