Drove her down to shakespear raceway, towing my bike, had a blow out on the trailer n sat on the m42 for 3 decking hours tooing n froing with the rac cos the bloody trailer wasn't covered on my policy!! Been a bloody mare of a weekend lol
 
After fitting a new starter motor last week and thinking that'll be it for a while, my clutch went a bit wiffy.

Fitted a new master cylinder today. Would have done the slave too but don't think it's the problem and the thought of breaking that clip scares me. The slave can stay in its box. Until next next week I imagine.
 
Finished up fitting new crossmember to my Friends 110. That's 2 under my belt now Inc my own and have to say I don't think it's a difficult job at all. Don't know why it seemed like such a scary job to me at all. Just confidence I think...getting the plasma out to cut back of your vehicle off!!! Oh and yes...bought a plasma lately...couldn't recommend one highly enough. Makes everything easy...especially for a learner like myself!
 
Went Greenlaning for the 1st time in Poppy, was pleased on how she performed , me thinks new tyres though :)

Refilled the gearbox oil after doing the rollpins and clutch over the weekend, good to have the motor back been off road for weeks.
 
Should have given me a shout, I was free on sunday.
I didn't do anything on it sunday , and all that work for two broken rollpins, clutch was ok but changed it as it was all out £124 for new one so I wont be doing that again in a hurry, clutch had been in 7.5 years
first car ive been under with the wheels still on the ground and you can sit upright with head in the tunnel lining it up:D

It may have been in for 7.5 years but how many miles has it done.
 
We have done 50k with it, so a little worn but loads of life left on centre plate, so new one should last a while.

I've trundled over to Wales and started work on that clutch problem I've mentioned elsewhere on my friend's car. I've got the slave cylinder and flexible hose swapped over and started dismantling the master cylinder but ran out of light. First, I couldn't get in the car at all, as the battery was flat and the key wouldn't open the door. So I had to take the door off to get in. I have contended with seized bolts, and metal hydraulic pipe that has welded itself to the compression nuts and wants to twist itself as I undo it. However, I think I'm over the worst of it. Tomorrow I shall finish the master cylinder, fill it up with fluid and see if things are any better. Goodness me, they don't give you much room to swing a spanner in there. I wasn't even able to work the bolts round one flat at a time. It was a case of having to flip the spanner over after every movement.

Finished my clutch job. The master cylinder has if anything even less room to work. The bottom bolt had to be eased round one ratchet click at a time with a 1/4" ratchet on one end and a flat ring spanner fed through from the footwell on the other. This is the kind of job where one of those expensive offset socket drivers would be useful. Anyway, clutch done and all seems to be working. The battery seems to have failed. It won't start no matter how much I charge it up. The car will start and run on jump leads from my battery but won't work on its own. This means you can't drive very far. A new battery has been ordered.
 
I have been enjoying driving it after having all the bearings replaced on the back axle and diff. Also replaced the half shafts. The annoying whine has now gone.
 
Just back from Wales today. Loads of traffic through the Midlands in the April showers and drizzle.

As well as fiddling with clutch cylinders we got out and had a trundle round the countryside. We went to Croft Castle and saw some splendid knobbly trees:


They look like sweet chestnuts to me (though my friend claimed they were oaks) and they're very old. There's a little fenced enclosure visible in the bottom picture - the proprietors have planted some new ones so there'll be some left when these ones have finally died. It'll take a few hundred years before they're like the old ones though.
 
Took the Green V8 manual (pictured) out for a play this morning while trying to decide on what to do with the other Green Disco (Pic1 engine is not well) and the Blue (Pic3 dont like the colour lol) Tdi auto. Should swap out the running gear to make the Green Auto into a Tdi or do a body swap? Green Body onto Blue Chassis. Help! (trying to upload pics)
