Swapped my front spring to the right one after replacing the final shock yesterday and putting an unknown spring on the front which ended up being too long and being spring bound. Then though I would jack up the rear on the high lift to try work out where the vibration and knocking was coming from one loose wheel bearing, tightened him up and she's lovely and smooth again, then went laning on some local lanes in the south hams, I see LRO was here at some point.
 
got myself a mondeo 90amp alternator to beef mine up a bit but lost my rev counter as I don't know where to put the white wire that was attached to the 'w' terminal on my old magnetti alternator as the mondeo one only has 'b+' and 'd+' and no 'w' the alternator is charging but just don't know how to get my rev counter back any ideas people?
also fitted a couple of battery cables from my battery to the grill so they act as a cheapo anderson cable for jumping and being jumped.

the mondeo alt only has the 2 terminals its a bosch 90 amp
 
Finally got around to fitting my X-Defend Pedal Lock. Great piece of kit and very easy to fit and use. They are expensive but I wanted a pedal lock that you don't have to hump around/store between use. It's so easy to use that you will always use it, even when leaving the Landy for a short time like at a petrol station. I also like the way it engages the brakes when locked.
 
took it to yarwell today got her nice and dirty but forgot the pic of my alternator will have to get one first thing tomorrow so I remember it before I get distracted by something else

the 'b+' is the top one and the 'd+' is the lower one but there is nowhere for the whit cable that would normally go to the 'w' terminal so I now have no revs
 
will have to get better pics tomorrow and look for the model number. what I know at the minute is that it's a bosch 90 amp from an X reg mondeo 2 litre 16v and was a multi-v belt drive that I have changed to single-v to fit my truck

Used it to tow some roles to try and flattern me field. Fixed the transfer box so I could get it in low range. Grub screw had come loose on the little arm. Hopfully it stays tight :)

Also, ive noticed a metallic click coming from the front drive train area, wondering if its the diff or a UJ or something. Anyone have any ideas?
 
Clicks are normaly CV, put it on full lock and move forward back see if you can hear it then? Or can be the flanges warn giving a small amount of play.

Forgive me if I sound stupid, but I though fenders have the swivel housing instead of a CV. It doesn't do it when I steer, usually when taking up/relaxing load.

Where are the flanges located? tis a bit of play in the front prop/diff. The rear is a lot worse, but i need new half shafts and diff i think.
 
The drive flanges are on each wheel on the outside, normally held on with 5 bolts in a star pattern and slip onto the splined part of the CV. Defenders do indeed have a CV but this doesn't aid steering, it merely allows rotational movement of the wheel to occur whilst turning left or right. They are housed inside of the swivel

Ahh I see, cheers for that. So to test i need to steer full lock and drive to see if it clicks.
