Did he have the same problems as you???????? If it worked for him why not for you??????????

Think some one said to but it all together on the ground, motor, transmission then put in............. Wait a old fooker mentioned that

He said he's had to take some apart again so I presume yes would be the answer and I was going to do that but there's not enough space. I did try before settling on in as two parts

if a motor can not go in as a unit there is something not right. You had the whole front end off should of been a straight shot

Even using an alinement tool I always double check by eye, a long reach socket or similar and a good eye will tell you whether your within a gnats whisker or not.

OK, this is "I might do this to my Landy today" :D

I have bought some Jate rings for my Defender. For the front as it has a towbar on the back.

Where do they go ?

Do they replace the rings which you can only use to tie things down. If so will they fit through the holes that are already there.

I might not attempt this if its not a simple job, but it looks easy enough, just one bolt

Oh and I did search but there is not a thread on this

Yeah should have done but oh well. Next time will hopefully have an old shaft that's been cut down

Short one. The arm isn't strong enough to do both engine and box at the length it needs

Doc if it is long enough to but motor in then it will work with trans on. if it is tail/trans heavy, you use a small ratchet strap to level it out to put in. It is very easy to put it all together

It's 250 kg at middle length and 150 at max length. Engines already at 230 so it won't take the extra strain. It's all sitting on a builders board now so level. Put it under engine and box with it sitting on axles and crossmembers to take the weight
