That would definately have to wait a few weeks, I haven't learned to weld yet, but it is on my list:D. Apparently I have to practice on a van before I am allowed near a Landy :D

I did go shopping today as well, I bought my Landy a Disklok, really cheap from the car alloy wheel shop :D Daughter was not happy as we went for alloys for her car.

You need to cut it up before you can weld it back together.

Always better looking after a landy than chaving up a car :D
 
Put engine and clutch in then tried gearbox but block of wood keeping engine at right height was in the way so wouldn't go in all the way. Splines locked up though so going to swap the wood for a bottle jack tomorrow

Couple of bolts with the heads cut off and threaded into lower bolt holes. or threaded bar abiut 6" Long. lines gearbox up perfectly.

Oh it was fine going in it was just the block of wood I was using to hold the engine up got in the way so going to get a bottle jack and prop up the sump end with that to get the height right :) then feed in by hand with crane supporting
 
nice new flat wipers and a bee sting aerial, well i fitted new wipers even though i need a wiper motor cause the wipers just stop any where they feel like it in the screen. atleast when they are deciding where to stop they dont squeek about it anymore.
 
Today I made a start on making my heavy duty rear bumper. The two lengths of tubing I got of a mate ( I got 4 off him two I've already used to make rock sliders ) they already had the two bends in them.
In one of the picture you can see the black bit welded on the top that is part of the old frontera rear bumper lol

went to go and sort out the gearbox………..tried for an hour then decided to take the clutch off and have a look at what was up as it was leaving about an inch gap all the way round no matter what I tried

turns out the clutch was put on about 2mm too far to the right so the spigot bush and input weren't lining up right, one side of the bush had a few small dents in it so I've given up until next weekend, got the engine in though so pleased with that and going to bring the MIG over next weekend I reckon and give the bulkhead a blast

got a spare spigot anyway (ordered two) so will try again next weekend as I cba now

so you fit it by eye then? did you not have a pilot tool????????

well we will all be on "spaceshipzone" by the time this is up and running :D
 
I used the pilot tool was an ancient sykes pickvant one and slightly bent so that probably didn't help. May see if the local landy garage has an R380 input shaft they've chopped off to use as a guide and ask nicely if I can borrow it as it'll be miles better than using the knackered old one
