Fook me Ilead an exciting life

Didn't do anything to the Defender today as I am on holiday in Dubai. But did do a safari trip through the desert in a LandCruiser and have to say I was impressed. It was a 4 LT V6 petrol and was unstoppable. Good a/c, smooth suspension, nice drive.

Heathen !!

Sorted my alarm arm/disarm indicator issue. The indicators are supposed to flash when the alarm is armed/disarmed but only the off side was working traced the fault to the stupid scotchlock thingies used to tap into the wiring. did it properly with crimp terminals and shrink wrap sleeving.

stripped seats/ seatbox/floors etc out of the 110 and removed gearbox.Ready for noo clutch, flywheel, slave cylinder, crankshaft oil seal Also need tio seperate gearbox and transfer box as got ATF leaking out where they Join. :(

Finally finished the changeover of all the smaller lights to canbus LEDs.

Front sidelights - 5 watt white T10 capless wedge equivalent.

Rear fog lights – 21 watt red 382 equiv.

High level brake light – 21 watt red 382 equiv. I used red LEDs for the rear fogs, HL brake and stop/tail lights because of the possibility of them showing the wrong colour; a purple-ish or pink colour which can happen with white LEDs.

Reversing lights – white Cree LEDs. I wasn’t happy with the intensity of the normal white LEDs. The Cree LEDs were quite expensive but they perform much better than even the filament type bulbs.

Stop/tail lights – 5/21 watts 380 equivalent. I had a few problems with these with current feeding through to illuminate the high level brake light while only the tail lights were on. I sorted that with the addition of a diode (1N5408 3 watt devices) inserted in each line to filament. All working fine now.

The main/dipped headlights, front fog lights and auxiliary front driving lamps have all been replaced with “Night Breakers” 55 watt Xenon filament bulbs.

I have yet to check whether I can use canbus LEDs to replace the indicator bulbs without screwing up the flash rate.

Fixed mine today, on my own and using my own tools :D

And, it was easy, especially as it worked first time :p
