Yeah, makes me wonder how many Discos with shed-loads of rooflights actually use them off-road at night!

Also wondering about just moving the roof-bar back a bit. I think there'll be a sweet-spot where the light doesn't shine into the cab, but throws a shadow over the windscreen and bonnet, yet loses no forwards (and sideways) looking light. Might look a bit odd, but that doesn't matter to me, functionality is of much more use ;)

Have to experiment when it's dark I guess as I don't have a garage to shut the door on! I left extra length on when wiring into the engine bay so have some amount of leeway.

I used a flexible rubber think it was a sealing gland for a toilet pipe, trimmed down and it had a handy flat edge to glue to the light

Genius .. we just had a small extension and new toilet block built on our school and there's a shed-load of bits hanging about. I'm sure there's a couple of toilet pans still to go in .. and they probably won't miss a seal .. ;)
 
Went to Brancaster beach - 8 other landies there. No height restriction :clap2:but the buggars are now charging £4 parking instead of the usual £1.50 :mad:....had to laugh though as on the way out the back of the sign still says £1.50 :der:
 
Flux direct, Mods including, winch, driving lights, chequer plate, snorkle, uprated dashboard, alloys, mud terrain tyres and sound system, £1288 with 2 years NCB and I'm 19, not bad really considering my mates are paying similar for a standard corsa :D

i have been cursing at mine no end.

rad leaking a good un, hand overtightened the coupling. aftersome swearing and total confusion as to why pipes werent sitting well realised we had used the td oil cooler pipes so will have to take the oil out yet again and swop couplings over but should be good for ever then.

started fitting the thermostatic fan. trying to figure wires out by the diagram on fuse box and loking at fuses it fruitless. none seem to match what it says they should amp wise. 35 amp on heater???

so called flexible pipes arrived and can go straight back at a jubille clip cracks them. will buy some more expensive flexible silicon piping instead so the performance air filter dont leak in floods.
 
Nudged it at about 3mph maybe because it slipped into drive from neutral (stupid move should have used park)

But it caved in his rear door, dented/sliced through the rear bumper and that was it, numberplate wasn't broken, lights were all intact and it drove off in a straight line to the nearest layby so we could exchange details

Damage to mine as such is a cracked spotlight cover and a nick in my hammerite


No pics (dumb move I know now) so no laughing for you buggers but I've notified my insurance that he's going to claim as according to the guy its a write off……bollocks to that its all cosmetic and I have made this point very clear with my insurers, IMO it needs a new bumper and rear door as it didn't touch the sill or anything underneath


Anyway thats one I can chalk up to experience and I'll know better if it ever happens again (touch wood it wont) on the plus side I now know that disco's are a lot safer than micras in slow speed collisions
 
Well, armed with my tools, a manual n a chair to stand on was all set to take the heater box out uncoupled pipes, cables, undid bolts in footwell then started on the bolts under bonnett, after much swearing n spending ages on one bolt that just went round n bloody round decided to take other bolt out, well that came out dead easy so went back to other n decided its obviously threaded itself, so next plan of action was to maybe try nice it off the bracket via a downwards motion only to realise that the person who welded my bulkhead has gone over the top of the bracket with some metal plate!!! (it's also covered in what looks like underseal!) so now I'm bloody stumped what to do, so for time being its been put back together so I can drive it, what a waste of an afternoon!!! Lol n it's ruined my nails !!
We all have days like that, I let my local garage loose on VJ (my Range Rover) the Trans oil cooler started to leak, I got a new one, so I gave them the task of doing it. I popped in to see how they were doing and was dismayed to see their mechanic trying to remove the pipes of the Engine oil cooler (which sits above the Trans oil cooler in front of the rad but behind the Air con condenser rad and fans) he is a hefty chap and was putting so much pressure on the spanner the Engine oil cooler was twisting in its frame. I stopped him there and took VJ home again. I'd rather a leaking Trans oil cooler than a broken Engine Oil Cooler. The leak is a tad messy but only uses half a liter in 6k.
So I will leave it a while.

True :rolleyes: but if my bumper had been made out of cheese instead of 5/6mm steel plate the micra probably wouldn't need a new rear bumper and door :eek:


I didn't feel a thing though, it was as if I'd knocked over a flowerpot, you just here that little *ting* noise but don't know whats happened
 
Wired up the rear wiper motor with a momentary switch, seeing as I found a 'hens teeth' rear wiper when clearing a part of my dads shed :D Didn't even know we had a rear wiper arm. Tomorrow I'm going to use the spare windscreen washer bag and drill a hole in the rear door card and use it like the old county's had, with a screen washer nozzle clamped onto the rear wiper arm :)
 
i refitted engine changed filters topped up oil connected drive shafts fitted radiator reconnected all electrics and exhaust drunk 6 cans of stella cidre and had a bbq with my mate who helped me and his family so good day all round just need to connect diesel tank fill up tank and reconnect battery and then of to be resprayed hope to be on road in next 2 weeks happy days
