Check both sides of fule holes with the red probe and black on the earth say a bolt or somthing on the dc volt setting

Just had another look, the brake light now works when the pedal is pressed, but the front and rear light does not come on when the lights are on. Checked power across the terminal like you said to do, there wasnt any. Checked other terminals to check isnt my old multi meter or something but its fine.

could it be the light stalk or still a dodgy earth or something?

Ide double check one that is working to make the meater is connected right and then look for corrosion or failing that.. try tracing the wire back to find the issue

Ok, its not the meter I know that for sure. so either corrosion or something else. But thats enough play for this evening, got a van sorted for tomz morning so thats ok.

Thanks for your help though. Just hope I can find the problem tomz during the day, coz I am working again in the evening haha :)

Tried to repair one of my break lights, then the fuse blew and stopped play. Don't have another fuse to hand, so I have no break lights instead of 1 :(

I got told it was an earthing problem from someone who saw what they were doing, apparently when I had my lights on and pressed down on the breaks by right hand light (as you look at the back) went out completely. Anyone know where the problem may be?
Is it on the light its self or somewhere along the wiring loom

mine failed mot this week for same thing, i was told earth fault, it was the bulb not in the holder properly

taken on way to much tonight. 2" suspension lift kit, rear timing cover gasket, obviously timing belt etc and replaced the rear diff. started at 18.30, lift kit and diff done. 1/2 way through the rear timing cover gasket. What a fuc:censored:nt of a job :boom:
this is gonna be a long night :ballchain:

bought a very attractive yellow absorbent cloth to catch the drips raining down on me from the sunroof when the ice melts and I go round a corner - problem solved :)

Thought I'd best drop the coolant well water wasn't a hint of anti freeze in it  new stuff in so I'm protected to -36 think that should be sufficient :D

Used sealant on the sunroof. Had to drop a quick call to shifty though on what sealant to use!

Bathroom clear did the trick.

Had another assault on the drain plug on the R380 gearbox today. A bit of experimentation suggested that a 10mm square would do it. I hammered it in and application of the breaker bar rounded the recess out completely. So it was out with the oil sucker to undertake the gearbox oil change via the top hole. It worked well but very slowly. I managed to get between 2 and 3 litres out before it started drawing air instead of oil, so I pumped in some expensive Difflock Evolution to give it a little treat. I haven't driven very far yet but it feels smoother, and gears are easier to select. The stuff that came out was like mud and you could see the little bits of metal sparkling in the sun as it came up the transparent tube.

Had the biggest bloody battle with one of the bolts holding the a frame balljoint forging to the a-frame in order to replace the balljoint. 2 hours of swearing, heating and gradually finding bigger hammers and bars to defeat it. Oh, and removing bits of the vehicle to improve access for the gradually more dramatic pursuaders!

Plenty of copper grease in the now to make sure next time it goes a bit easier.

After being of the road for the past two months due to a collapsed wheel bearing then needing mot'd I gathered the children, the dogs and the wife, and set off to the beach. What a great run. I didn't realise how much I (we) missed her. Great to be back on the road.

Changed bearing in the Aux belt tensioner No more screaming canaries under the bonnet. :D
Found out the noo aux belt I bought is about an inch longer than the old fooker

took it to get the salisbury mud hosed off the underneath & engine bay, Took fooking ages to find a jetwash that was working and where 4x4's weren't banned from using em.. :(

Changed engine oil & Oil filter
Drained front axle of the grey sloppy crud and refilled it with fresh ep80/90.

Stuck some Polystyrene & celotex on the sides of the rear tub, to try and reduce the amount of condensation in the back.
