Sorted out my speaker prob , changed the O/S mirror head , greesed my prop , fixed a side light prob .
Stripped my donor rad/intercooler frame and cleaned it all up ready for the conversion :) .

Ok here goes, it went to a mechanic friend on Saturday

New :
Timing belt, idler pulley, tensioner, crankshaft pulley etc
Oil & filter
Air filter
Fuel filter
Gearbox, diif, transfer box, swivel oils all replaced
Anti freeze drained & replaced
Greased nipples

Also
A full inspection, front to back including brakes, bushes, suspension, steering etc

The only thing the mechanic could find it needed was a donut rubber

He reckons its all good, A1 as it should be
And hes very thorough

The regular service i would have done myself, but been as it was due a cambelt i let him do the lot

£120 labour & £150 parts - not worth gettin me hands dirty
And as its due for an MOT next month it should go through ok

Just glad i didnt buy a lemon

Also the cam belt cover had a lot of black dust, so it may have been at the end of its life, hence the modified kit with the better cranshaft pulley went on

Fingers crossed for trouble free motoring then

tried starting mine today after an hour or so of cussing swearing and losing the plot realised it was out of fuel:doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh:
also had some info on wheel arches (thanks buckshot ):D:D:D

went to put new rear wiper blade on mine, only to discover the rear wiper motor has stopped working, at the exact time i touched it, took the motor unit apart, all looked good cleaned the commutator on the motor, then had to make up a new brush as i mangled the existing one putting the motor back together....put it all back then realised that it was exactly the same, seems the vibrations/pot holes, are keeping it going

...fun

Cursed and swore and still utterly failed to remove the nearside rear hub/halfshaft!

Looks like a new axle assembly ... so if anyone has a spare 300Tdi non-abs rear axle with hubs, i have a good diff and all else .. I'm looking for one ... ;)
