is this an easy job Gav?
mines not working, can't find where the sender unit is in Haynes manual...
Not 2 bad wiv spanners...

T

Mega easy. On 200tdi its in the side of the thermostat housing, got a wire going to it, easy to spot. Before you change it short it out with a wire going from the connection on the sender to the block with the ignition on. If the temp rises and keeps rising then its the sender buggered.
To change manual says to drain coolant stightly but i just whipped it out and put the new one straight in a and only lost a drop of coolant. Nout to it.

dropped the punctured tyre up to the loacl garage then put it back on .
re-tightened the fan belt was squeling like a stuck pig
then took it for a blow out down the A303 to me mates place

Tried to find the water temp sender unit on my 19J- No joy:(
I know what a new one looks like...

Haynes manual just says either thermostat housing or cylinder head- No piccie...
Can anyone point me in the right direction for a head mounted one?

So removed the drivers door card & replaced the lock button assembly- Some rough arsed git broke it:mad:

Then decided to get the grease gun out & grease the prop UJ's :)

Tried to re-secure the hanging bump stop to find it had split across the mount hole & needs replacing:mad:

Started stripping the series 2a for a rebuild. Bonnet, Wings, Seat box, Roof and sides, and Windscreen is off. Oh and the two sill pieces as they wernt fixed to the bulkhead. Hopefully the tub should be off tommorow ready for the chassis to be welded and prepped.

welded a new rear panel in frankinstien (my disco) and replaced floor an side panels ready for some more abuse next weekend in tonge Bradford

Filled mine with bio

Then swapped the headlight bulbs for super bright 'up to 90% brighter' ones.......

90% brighter than what - a candle?? Could barely tell any difference in the daylight.
Hopefully they will be better when I try them in the dark. If not, I've just got a pair of spare bulbs.

I also noticed more than usual oil on the drive way....will have to invesigate that at some point :(

Yesterday and this morning. Amazing what you can get done with no kids around.
Replaced, thermostat and coolant, leak off pipes and rear washer jet.
Cleaned out intercooler and cyclone filter.
Fixed drivers door so it now opens using the outside handle.
Fitted new wheels and rear mudflaps.
Decided not to give it a lift, so selling all the bits I bought to fund purchase of a MIG.

Tracked down me elusive temp sender unit.
Top of head, near side 'n' right at the back- that makes it an early engine...
Tested it & wiring, wiring & guage work when earthed so just ordered a new sender.:)

ps Congrats to BigP on new purchase- looking forward to your future posts:D
