Removed windscreen wiper mechanism, cleaned and regreased. Now wipers work straight away instead of waiting for the old grease to warm up and melt.

Taken the sound proofing off the seat boxes and cleaned some of the sticky-back tape off, sounds the same, looks a lot nicer :)

I spent three hours flushing the coolant system. I had to cut off the jubilee clips :( the water is rusty too!!
The thermostat is not opening fully so I will replace that too :)

Got it in the garage and took a look at the brakes (and I mean only a look)
Took a couple of wheels off and the result is the fronts look good, plenty of pad left, pins moved by hand and calipers in good nick. Not going near them for a while:)
Now the backs are a different kettle of fish,:( although at least the calipers look good so hopefully should not have to mess with them. I can even turn the retaining pins by hand so no corrosion (well not much:rolleyes:) so now to work out the shopping list. Numbers kindly confirmed by James yesterday.
Not sure I want you to see the condition of my rear discs:oops: but safe to say it won’t be long before the pads touch together:eek:

I changed the oil and checked the UJ's whilst under there :)
There is a little play in the front diff bearing that will need to be addressed....

Changed another flat tyre. Rear O/S
Took the mrs out on a drive for draft duties. She's now loverly & warm so Got the all clear after the work.
Still have a squeak that was there before. I'm going for a bonnet bracket

Got in garage to change a headlight bulb,no dip on 1 side.
Easy job no problems here I thought:) 5 mins and it will be done right?

Now I know a few of you will know exactly where this is gonna end:eek:.

So armed with 1 screwdriver and new bulb. 2 mins later headlamp in my hands connector off (a little brittle but still ok) bulb out and take a look, hummm don’t look blown visibly, change anyway and test. Still no dip.

Back to the toolbox I go, pick up tool #1, figure this is not what I need right now (but keep it close Incase:D)
Pickup the meter and start to check. I know the earth is good (high beam ok) check for voltage first. Well that’s strange not sure 1.5v is gonna light a bulb:rolleyes:.

Fuse box next then

Certainly a bit of a mix of fuses to change for correct values later.
Ok 10a in the headlight at fault, not blown but let’s take it out and ge the meter out again.
The little plastic thingy isn’t man enough to pull the fuse:eek:.

Pulled and, well pretty obvious where I have my voltage loss:).
So cleaned it up checked continuity and resistance to the headlight (bridged to earth at connector)all good.
Checked voltage yep all good same as others. Put in proper sized fuse and change some other to correct rating. Still need more.
But end result light works fine.
Why?
I have a feeling that the 90 had some sort of spots at some point, haven’t traced wiring yet but wonder if they broke into the circuit for a live just on the 1 side hence the 10a probably cooked it a bit. Have left the fuse cover off so can monitor for a while and check it’s not getting hot.
Anyway loads more wiring to come in the future I am sure.
Like any other older vehicle it’s had bits added, removed, and botched. I will deal with each as it shows, would hate to fix it all in 1 go:) and have nothing to do.

Anybody want to take a guess at this little bit of electricketry.

Its a little button. Nothing went off when I pushed it, and the car start fine since. I am wondering if it’s some sort of reset for the aftermarket alarm. The wires are very skinny.

So there you have it, how to turn a 5min job into 2hours:oops::)

So, you've tried pressing the bit in the middle and come to the conclusion that it's no. Have you tried turning the bit in the middle? There looks like a small screwdriver slot on it. In which case it could be something like a control for maybe some dashboard lights .... or it might be for setting the sensitivity of a motion detector .... maybe.

Well never saw that. But will check again and have a closer look.
Need to check on the sensitivity. But it is not fixed, it just hangs there so not sure sensitivity of motion would work not being fixed.
But open to all suggestions.
Maybe I should put it in the garage and see if I can nick it:)

After topping up a dodgy clutch pedal with good old dot 4 for about a month, finally the slave gave up & spilled it's guts on the drive!!
Sourced a borg & beck slave, changed, bled and wow, that's what the pedal really feels like
Got a master too, so just waiting for that to pop!

Mine nothing...
But if CX11 110(Wiltshire area) is here you need to do the following
Front O/S side light
Rear O/S brake light
High level brake light.
Don't people walk round their motors to see what's not working

I find it extremely difficult to check my brake lights as my legs are not long enough to depress the brake pedal whilst I get out to have a look..

I have a mirror in the garden I can see all rear lights ;)

Front ones light up the garage door as it opens.

Or get a special brake test stick

I pop into my local retail park, they all have nice glass fronts, I check the front lights, spin it around and check the rears....I suppose the people in the shops think I am mad,....but then again....

Cheers
Yes, that's my answer but the difficulty is the nearest retail park is a 65 mile trip away so it doesn't get done weekly. Asking my husband to go to the rear to report on the lights is like asking him to perform a major engineering feat!

Looking good,

If that air box goes to a snorkel, then make sure the docks beak is sealed as well, then test it to make sure it works and all the system is sealed.

Cheers
