Had knocking and clonking on the way home so figured it needed checking. Found that the box breathers must be blocked as both boxes were filled past the mark with watery mayonnaise. Dropped both and renewed and greased props and a frame ball joint. Now just hope that's cured the knocking

Ask him how much for the rear crossmember. Its better than the one I have after taking a hammer to it today.

OK that knocking and clonking must have been more than the box oils. I have lost all drive unless in diff lock but after a while of diff lock it decided that we needed to stop and brought me to a skidding halt tried again with no d/l got 400yards down the road and lost drive again put it back in d/l and got the rest of the way home. I can spin the rear wheel with no effect on the prop. Have I got a blown rear diff?

New wide angle rear prop arrived yesterday so got son to fit it as he was on his day off and some other bits i ordered the other day aswell have started to arrive now, a few other bit to arrive yet then i can start doing a few other small jobs :)

Yes or just check half shafts first takes 1 min to look.

Changed the wiper wheel boxes this afternoon. I could barely move the passenger side one. The drivers side one looked quite new. Tedious job due to the amount of dash components that need to be removed.

I did not know that you had to order the spindle things as well so I'm temporarily using the old ones which are well worn, but even so the wipers are much better! This is a job I've been putting off for ages.

Squirted some more wd40 on my nuts n bolts that are holding my tow ball on, need it off so i can use my drop plate to tow my bikes :)

found the problem. my rear diff decided to come say hello. I have a nice hole in my diff pan now. looks like the disco is staying parked up for now then. at least until I get a new rear axle.

can anyone confirm if the 4 bolt 24 spline diffs will fit front or rear. or have they got to be for the front or for the rear. looking at the outside of it I can't see that there would be specific ones as they both have the bolt holes for the axle damper
