Replaced the speedo cable. The connector was broken at the speedo end and rattling around at the gearbox end. New one fitted and at last the speedo needle sits steady instead of bouncing around :D

Done a bit more work on the role cage. Finished the D hoop for the B piller and 2 connecting bars to the rear section. Slow progress but will be worth it when it's all done.

Got all the brakes replaced and bled. All working considerably better than they were. Also jet washed the underside. If you're thinking of wasting your money on swarfega degreaser to clean your 40 year old land rover, don't.

My new Terrafirma lift kit came today and it looks great, can't wait to fit it hopefully if son isn't working on Saturday we can fit it then if not it will have to fit it when we are both off :(:)

Replaced the washer jet nozzle and removed the snorkel stripped it down and repainted it.
The Washer jet nozzle was a right pig of a job, I took someone's advice and tried to do it without removing the dashboard. I removed the ashtray and used the hole for access. Had to feed a spanner down into the hole and then fiddle around trying to remove the nut by touch. Not easy when you've got fat hands and there is a metal stanchion in the way!

I did learn that when removing the snorkel its important to remove the plastic clip holding the metal pipe to the flexitube before the two brackets holding it to the windscreen pillar. Otherwise it leads to trying to undo this clip while performing an interesting balancing act.

It didn't look like it had been removed or looked at since my Yreg defender was made.

A new set of grease-able track rod ends appeared on the doorstep this morning.

just need some warmer weather so I can drive in a straight line again.

broke the welds on my home mounted bull bars pushing a lesser 4x4 out the way in the yard. looks like the welder is coming out at the weekend for some beefing up of my front bumper. another busy weekend playing on my landy with breaks trailing arms and bumper oh well all good fun

Nice little 20 min job to get the heater blower switches working consistently.
Removed the instrument binnacle and got switch cleaner into the contacts, awful cheap design!, then got a few dribbles of oil down the cable, awful cheap design! Works better now.

collected my new brakes tonight now to find the time to fit them before i need them hopefully. any tips on replacing the rear discs on a D1 never done them before or any like them

Quite an easy jobs once you get past the thought of pulling the haft shafts out.
It was at this point about 20 years ago with my Series IIa that I realised this is serious and I didn't want to do the work on the landy myself any more.
