checked my voltages and found that under full standard equipment load it's only pushing out 11 volts and with no load 13volts think i might have some issues to sort out

Spent a good 4 hours jet washing and cleaning it, then lubing up the props, hnges and everything else I could think of after yesterdays P&P, not gonna be doing P&P too often, the post play cleanup takes far too long :)

Made some good progress on the twin alternator and battery wiring, also rigged up a relay to run the healights directly from the battery with some decent wire rather than through all the old wiring.

Took it to garage for complete oil change, in a rush so just got keys and come home without checking work, just had a look under and they've only changed engine oil the rest looked to have been just topped up the bastids I specifically asked for a full oil change on all boxes, diffs & swivels, they ant even touched the swivels! Bleeding fuming good job I haven't paid yet though, gonna go back tomorrow and ask them to do what I specified and make sure they don't charge me twice for the oil.

depending on what axles you have fitted, there may not be a drain plug on the swivels.
also, if they've been filled with swivel grease, only way to drain and refill is a strip down of the swivels, which should include stripping the wheel bearing assemblies. (which may be a good thing, to check the condition of bearings and what they've been running in)

Put it on the ramps and pressured washed the chassis for a good hour at least, so pleased to see very little surface rust and a lot of paint still on it. Crossmember looks decent other than a small hole where above the tow bar where my 7 pin plug is.

Replaced my battery tray just in time by the looks of it, looks smart with a new ally one.

Been adding a cb aerial, swr ing the cb in and drilling the wing for a snorkel. Also moving the air filter, 'cos my time's cheaper than buying a 'proper' 2.5 TD snorkel .. and going through the awkwardness of trying to seal it to the wing.

All I need is an air filter base that I can weld brackets to now .. and some deliveries from ebay .. :)

So my rear diff ran dry due to a rusty hole allowing all the oil to escape.

It whines a fair bit, but is that terminal?

My mate said they used to put sawdust in with the oil to thicken it up and quieten it down.

Hi, I'm new to the forum, nice to meet you all! I have a problem with my 2002 Freelander TD4. It has been occasionaly smoking quite badly and the engine management light has occasionaly been coming on. Also sometimes the ignition runs on after being switched off. I have had it diagnosed as a faulty high pressure fuel pump. Does this sound likely?
