Was replacing a snapped bracket that runs down some aluminium extrusion on a bed that raises up to the roof of the van in a camper yesterday. It was a mad day all sorts going on and we were running late, the customer had already arrived to pick it up and was pacing round the office.

Supported that corner of the bed with an axle stand while we removed the strap (used to raise the bed), remove the old bracket remains, fit the new bracket and thread the strap back.

In our rush, we didn't think of protection, no wood, no cloth, just rested the bed on the stand... needless to say a big chunk of the melamine surface snapped off the ply. Feck!

As stated, yesterday was a mad day at work. Started at 7, finished at 5:30 and it was full on all day.

However, I had to take time out at lunchtime to pick up our dog, she had been at day care in the morning and I had to take her home where she would be on her own until I finished work.

So I thought I'd take her for a quick walk round a park before she was left on her own. Had a nice quick walk round Yaldhurst Domain, got back to the car, pressed the remote to unlock.... nothing!

Remote not working at all. Key unlocked the door, but the alarm stopped the car from starting. Stranded and I need to get back to work. Stripped the fob and found the bracket holding the battery had come away from the PCB. Held it all together by hand with the fob still open, pressed the button, but nothing. Nothing else to try though, so kept trying. Eventually I got a 'click' and then she started - relief

So mad rush home, dropped the dog off, picked up the spare remote and back to work.

Shall take my hi-res glasses into work on Tuesday and get the soldering iron out!

Had the MIL light come on today. A quick read of the code returned P1e30 (boost system performance). I thought ah! it's about time I renewed my vac hoses with the silcone hose I bought two years ago to do the job, but when I had a quick look under the bonnet I discovered that the short hose between the temp sensor and plastic intake had a gash in it like the proverbial axe wound. Time for a set of silicone hoses all round me thinks.

Hi, hope you're keeping well.
I replaced all my intake hoses with silicone but every time I lifted the bonnet,checking oil etc, the hoses were always slimey/greasey so in the end I went back to the original type & have had no such issues since. (BTW, still using the rave cd you kindly did for me, thanks again, all the best.

Took the front subframe off
To Replace
track-rod ends
drop links
bottom arms
poly bushing
removed lose rust and primed with rust convert ready to paint tomorrow
ARB bolts and brackets all good condition and came out without a fight

it hasn’t done 2000m since then

Funny you should mention the wife. I took No1 daughter back to Cardiff uni on Thursday afternoon in the wife's Audi, so she had my Freelander. Then on Friday afternoon I but my tools back in the boot after work, and noticed the scuff.
I don't think the wife did it, unless she was sliding the back of the car sideways, but I'm pretty sure it happen while it was in her possession.
It's very annoying, but I'm hoping I'll be able to polish it out tomorrow.

Oddly a similar scuff has appeared on the front of the wife's Audi too, so maybe it's someone who can't drive, visiting the same places as her.

Slightly corroded, with holes in them. That's slightly concerning.
Hopefully the new ones will last the life of the rest of the vehicle.

I watched mine put a spare wheel shape in the back of a yaris my son had when he was learning
I seen her do it out of the bedroom window or. She wouldn’t have owned up

Yes, the amount of strength lost on those arms is concerning. I can only imagine what would happen to them if you had to do an emergency stop.
Unfortunately not. I've got rid of most of my spare FL1 stuff.

I watched mine reverse into our wall then deny it, even though I was watching out the kitchen window. Thankfully it was her car and not mine, although I still got the job of sorting it.

Subframe back in new arms bushes drop links one job down
But there’s plenty more to do , just see. front brake hose and they look shot around the ferrules so new ones seem prudent
Hopefully they will split as the pipe looks really good especially compared to bleed nipple bet I end up with a new calliper

Looking nice. I'm thinking I should do something similar to my FL2 subframes, before I'm replacing or welding them.

It’s always when you get the time with jobs like this
I was forced into putting this one off the road due to the Tw#% who sold me it gave me a old logbook so that took a 4/5 weeks to sort out and by the time that had came i could actually sell the old one this intern freed the cash to spend on the new one
There’s a hand built stainless exhaust on the way from turbo back I think I have almost everything else so extremely happy with it tbh
it drives absolutely fantastic 3 owners until this year and now we are the 5th so I think someone bought it and took it back due to it blowing smoke (burst hose ) and earthing problems ( simply clean the terminal)

I was going to put it on the road but now I think I will wait till February to get some jobs done
Two front wheels need doing again and there’s some small amount of peeling very minor in parts
The seats are really good but bobbing on the Alcantara so I think I might just wait till February and a bit of early sunshine to get it on the road
Plus it’s basically Christmas now job wise so it will be 7 days soon not just the standard 6
And this will have a impact on my time and energy
