The rear shafts last twice that distance, and the fronts not much less, unless the extra load of a failing VCU has caused premature CV joint wear.

Not only today but over the last few days I've one this.
Found half the soil in Ireland behind the wing liner on the drivers side. Maybe some evidence of past misdemeanours.

Subframe is dropped already as can be seen in 2nd last photo so the current plan is to disconnect everything in the way then lower the car as far as possible but still let the engine hoist under. Hopefully with the bonnet removed there will be enough room to lift the engine, gearbox and IRD out.This looks a serious endeavour. Are going to drop the engine and subframe or lift it out?

Not only today but ......I'm hoping to get the engine out this weekend so that I can measure the gearbox for the coupler and adapter plate.

I had originally planned to remove the IRD first and have most of the bolts out so may go ahead with that to make things easier.You might find space is limited, with the box and IRD still attached.
If you are separating the box and IRD, then there's plenty of room for the engine to come out the top.
Where from and which option? All the ones I've looked at so far look dodgy.Ordered a Mongoose cable and JLR SDD software, which I hope will allow me to program a replacement EDC for my FL2.
Yes mate, it went mostly to plan until the engine fell off the trolley jack.So you went will pulling the ICE out the bottom then.
