Radio reception - Much better after a mornings phaffing about! Things done to date: replaced the antenna base, entire antenna assembly and a new 'down' coaxial cable, but no improvement heard. Added and extra earth cable to the head unit's chassis - still no improvement. Refitted the original antenna and reception much improved by that extra earth. Lesson relearnt - try the simple cures first and don't over think problems!

Today I changed the oil, oil filter and air filter. I was planning on changing the crankcase filter too, but could I find the new one, no I couldn't. 
Still the engine is now nice and quiet with it's Asda £14 for 5 litres of 10w40 fully synthetic oil.
Small pile of new stuff.
De-fluffed air filter, old and new.
My preferred sump plug washer.
I also adjusted the wiper arms, so they sit on the markers on the screen.
I had a good look for the squeaky noise too, but haven't found anything untoward.

Today I have mostly been screwing a new antenna to the roof fitting, having drilled out the stump of the old one and re-tapped it. This is because the original was so flimsy that it couldn't resist 20 3" fence stakes smashing across the roof rack with the antenna jammed between them.

Replaced the window lift mechanism in the left rear door today.
The job was a breeze. The hardest part was undoing the electric plugs on the door card (Why does every plug come apart in a different way, usually needing ninja monkey fingers to undo?)
I also replaced the plastic door seal sheet while I had it apart.
The window goes up and down very nicely now.
There will be some serious engine work next week so this was a good confidence booster.

Well, today is my 40th birthday and my parents got me these lol,
A bit of bling for the bonnet (a matter of taste I know, but I like them) and window regulators for both rear doors. Looks like a day of it eh @Rich in Vancouver

It's been a busy day!
I took a large portion of the KV6 apart to replace the L/H cylinder head in an effort to get rid of a persistent tappety noise.
Swapping the head complete is a bit of overkill but the new head was very cheap. Pulling the engine apart I found some other possible
causes of the noise including play in the cam belt idler pulley, a deteriorated exhaust gasket, and most concerning, too much slack in the
cam belt. All of these will be fixed so hopefully the noise will be a thing of the past.
