Fitted my reconditioned turbo,( never again)

New air filter, crankcase filter turbo breather filter, New oil and filter pollon filter.
And now won't rev passed 2000,

Swapped the LR driving lamps for a 20" LED light Bar - so much brighter in the short distance and spread but hard to say if the long range has been increased.

Power steer pipe burst at LHS of rack ( rusted through at the 90 degree bend ), spent a couple of hours dodging the rain and removing the pipe.

Just got to wait for the replacement pipe and refit at the end of the week.

Fitted my painted up brake light today. Whilst i was at it i took the opportunity to adjust the new rear wiper arm a little better. It doesn't rub the boot door now but i can't get it to sweep the top the window. I think I'll just leave it mind. I removed the spare wheel carrier to do it properly and cleaned out the years of muck, leaves and soil out of the bottom and was delighted to find that the door skin was immaculate. A good clean up and it's all back together nicely.

It's interesting that your HSE was registered in the same area as mine, in the same year too. The reg plates both beginning with BK05, yet both vehicles are now in the Southwest.

I thought that too when i popped over to your place. I'd like a local reg really but that's way down the list of properties lol.

I didn't even notice it at the time.
The BK prefix is for an area of Birmingham I think. My plate has the name of a dealership in Stockport however, which is some way from the BK area.

I fancy a private plate, but that's well down my list of priorities too.;)

Radio reception advice please.
My radio reception has a lot of static. I've got a newish head unit fitted in 2014, I've replaced the antenna and base as well as the lead down to the head unit. I've run a local earth cable above the cabin light assembly and that 'clamps' under the antenna lead where it attaches to the antenna. But still lots of crackles... The static is static ie it doesn't alter with engine speed.

What Have I missed?

Cleaned my milky Headlights with glass cleaner and baking soda. Came up really clear!! Horrible yellow deposit came off them!

Check the info with the head unit, some times you will find there is a small screw head at the back that needs to be adjusted to tune the antenna in to the head unit. The overall length of the antenna & cable can affect reception, and varies between manufacturers.

The LED bar's don't give the range of dedicated long range spots. However they give much better overall illumination in the mid range. They also eliminate the large contrast differences that very focused spots give. This has the effect of making night driving easier on the eye. The non directional light for a light bar is also immune from wobbling and light bounce at distance, which can also be distracting.

You probably need an aerial booster, as modern radios are less sensitive than older designs. The standard Phillips fitted from the factory was particularly sensitive, so the factory aerial was probably a lower gain to compensate.

I had a similar issue with mine after I installed my Sony HU, so I replaced the complete aerial and down lead with a modern higher gain aerial.

Thanks Nodge - I bought the same antenna as you did and an extension lead too. I'll try adding an earth connection to the head unit's chassis to see if that helps.

Don’t forget the horn, that nearly got me a few years back luckily I checked it the day before :) good luck.

Well, At least you can say my Freelander is consistent.
I popped over the US border this evening to pick up an order of Ravenol motor oil for the Hippo. At the booth the border guard asked me to roll down the rear window (Probably watching for Mexicans trying to sneak in)
The window went down fine, and you know what's coming...………….When I hit the switch to raise it again-Bang! The bloody cable went. *sigh
Picked up my oil and came home. 1/2 hour round trip all in, followed by an hour to strip the door and secure the window.

Another project. Just what I needed.:(

Not really today, over the last couple of days - fitted a pair of Osram Nightbreakers, changed the black and cracked header tank (it was a mess :eek:) for my nice new chinese one for just under £13 off ebay rather than the "£35 and that will be another £5 for the cap as well" I was quoted elsewhere, got some new antifreeze to do a complete coolant change but decided I might as well wait for payday and put a set of silicon intercooler hoses on at the same time. On the long list of things to do is fit the Race Chip I won off ebay, full service (waiting for payday to get the kit), find a wheelbrace that fits - got the box, jack and wheel chock in the boot but no wheelbrace! There is loads more to do but this time of year is stupidly busy at work and I don't have much spare time.

Picked up and fitted my roof tray this afternoon,She’s starting to take shape.
