Stripped off the last remaining "decent" bits off the hippo. Including the aircon switch, so it can be modded for another use in the next one :)

Also found out, the turbo was fitted with:
one manifold bolt sheared, but just thrown in.
one turbo to manifold nut, not doing anything (seized halfway down the stud)
two of the turbo elbow bolts finger-tight
one of the drain pipe bolts finger tight
One of the two EGR bolts... missing

So no doubt, I was losing out on a bit of power, lol

RIGHT try again..
Got my Hippo back,
Not what have I Done to to my landy, but more to what my machanic has done to her..

New multilayer head gasket
Water pump
Thermostat
Espantion tank cap
Cam belt
Spark plugs.
Oil filter
Oil
Air filter
Mini service
Now sound sweet

Few things to replace soon tho..
HT LEADS & DIZZY CAP
replace oil after Approx 500 miles
Still check coolant ever so offen..
At least it's not over heating

Still need to sort a suspected heater matrix issue..??.as passenger floor is damp..but will check door, windscreen and other seals..

I see you are using an aftermarket stereo. Is there a patch cable for the steering wheel controls available?

Honestly no idea, I didn't think it worth the effort, even in the RX8 where the steering wheel controls are really well laid out, I still find myself reaching for the main controls.

Nice PMR rig.. what your call sign..?? I take it youre a licenced Amature ??

It's actually locked off and attenuated to approximate legal output on the PMR license free band.
Have to be careful with it, when in high power mode it's capable of blasting out at 70 watts :(
Will be doing my license this winter I think to allow higher powers~

Espantion tank cap

Be careful that the actual bottle is OK - they craze around the top by the cap and leak. Would be a shame after all that work for something simple like that to still cause problems - worth a check.

Funny you should say that - cos my 'matrix is leaking', but the coolant levels are not dropping! Funny, it appears to have started after replacing the windscreen!!

Well took the boys horse riding today in Melton.. and on the way back approx 2-3 miles from hom the car started to over heat!! which i thought was Odd.. I had checked the coolant before we left melton as was adviced to keep a eye on it for the next week,, while things settle in..fair enough..
but for the needle to almost reach the RED was very worring to say the least... rang the machinaic.. told me to let her cool down abit... and try and get her home which i did.. So just waiting for him to come out and check it.. seems like it leaks while after a good run and cooling down from that is more prominit to leaking.. which he found odd as it was holding under pressure..

but all the work he has done is under warrenty anyhow.. just hoping it isnt anything other that what he has done.. that will result to more money ..last thing we need.. as we need a ar with having two Autistic children and need to get them to their activities..

Not feeling the happy bug at the moment.. GUTTERED aint the word..

Put the spare on as have a puncture

Hope they can fix it else I'll be scrapping a less then 1000 mile Michelin Latitude Cross tyre :(

Hard job... and nightshift :p
2015-07-20 22.37.49.jpg

Left one - New MAF, two last aux instruments for engine parameters (EGT + Boost) , couple of wires and vac lines. Next step is new ECU map, and final setting up on dyno.
Right one - MBC valve by turbosmart, new vac lines, ECM "piggyback" for fuel quantity and of course dyno setting up.
Maybe in middle of Sep i will have some dyno graphs :)

First oil & filter change since getting it going, swapped tyres [front to rear & vice versa], fitted LED reverse lamps.

Wire brushed the underside and coated it with Hammerite. Didn't take long as she's never been driven off road. :)

Parked her up and took the RX8 down south for a jaunt... which I regretted.
Got halfway back and realised she wouldn't pull through to 9000 rpm in higher gears on the motorway, had a look around and the trailing spark plug lead on rotor 2 had vibrated off. Swine to get at too as the plugs are on the passenger side of the engine block, and the only way to get in is through the wheel arch:
