I dont take my car to a garage for an mot as they have a vested interest in it failing, I take mine to my local council, as they dont do service or repair for the general public I be leave you get a truer test. Working myself in garages for a good part of 40 years I dont think I have not seen an exaggerate test. One place I worked expected an extra £200 from any mot or service. and put a lot of pressure on mechanics. I no one bloke had a disciplinary for not meeting the requirements.
