Busy day today... put the starter motor back after the correct contacts arrived for the solenoid - works well now. Removed the EGR and replaced with a cheapy blanking job from e-bay. Cheap and roughly made but does the job. Replaced the VCU with a recon job from Bell, took ages to separate the front driveshaft from the old one as it was stuck on but got there in the end - otherwise was straight forward. AND - replaced the thermostat using the method on the forum without removing any belts or the pump! Horrible job, but now surprising how quickly the TD4 engine warms up - much quicker than my 300 Tdi disco!

I seem to have accidentally deleted the video off my phone but have uploaded the video to Facebook. I am not about to share my Facebook video with you all but I took a screenshot. Basically being towed though a flood on a canoe. Quite entertaining no matter how sensible your trying to be at the time

Cool! I'd be up for that! I wanted to paddle all our floods, but there's far too many barb wire fences about and a bit of a flow so not a good idea at all.. :(

Oh, done nothing to my Freelander today- too busy looking at Alfa GTs and X Trails to replace it with.

There was a bit of a cross flow when not attached to the freelander . At one point I got a bit close the the hedge but if it all got too much I would only have to step out.

Electrical fault finding. Found the cause of me intermittent front wind screen wiper fail. It's the ignition switch starting to fail. It caused the wiper to fail when turning them on to the intermittent setting. You would hear the click of the relay but the wiper wouldn't move. When it was time for the next pulse of the relay the wipers would then work, and there after. The voltage on the fuse measured 13.45 volts with the engine running which is a good indication one of the ignition switch contacts is starting to fail. Other fuses were at 14.21volts. So the wiper bit of the ignition switch (shared with other stuff) had a failing contact.

Unfortunately after cleaning up the ignition switch I put it back together and all was ok except the engine wouldn't start. So I cleaned the ignition switch again and all is ok again and it will now start. I will order a new ignition switch tomorrow.

that looks big!!! no more underground parking for you.
I thought about getting one for the girls stuff when on vacations, but then the wife asked in an intimidating voice "you are not thinking of having it inside the house the rest of the year, are you!?"

Spot on mate,
same deep threatening voice,
but I am leaving it on there until it becomes impractical to do so,
yes a little more thinking about journey end it needed, but so far
its not been a problem, only takes 5 mins to remove if on your own
and it sits on the back seats if need be..

I got a even bigger roofbox on mine. Just take some measurements of the height so you know how tall it is. I still havent had to back out of a parking garage or similar.

Tried and failed to fit my new tow bar electrics backing plate...the two nuts and bolts refused to budge ...dowsed them in 3 in 1 and Ill have another go tomorrow - with a hammer and chisel on stand by :)

Drove around in 2wd while I wait for my parts to arrive! Pulling off the same speed I used to now means lots of wheel spin!

Made a temporary repair to my exhaust with cable ties, so temporary it only lasted 30 or so miles of my journey home before it snapped the cable tie and rubs on my subframe on tickover. Very annoying in stop start city driving. I think I shall soon be getting handy with the angle grinder and chop the bugger off, turn it around and make it a side exit :)

Fitted the single din pocket (decided against cup holder as couldn't find a suitable one) and uss the satnav on the new dojble din
