Well, I opened a belated birthday present today, only to find a TD4 K&N filter inside. Checked out the various threads that discuss them so the question is, should I fit the bloody thing or not?!
 
Replaced the engine oil filter and the pollen filter, modified the TD4 oil breather to the plastic type, new discs front with holes and slices with new pads. Put wd 40 onto the front shocksbsorbers lower bolts. checked rear axle oil, replaced IRD oil. Checked the middle bearings and the VCU unit and undersealed any rusty bit underneath. And checked the rear brake shoes for wear they were like new.

Had no problems with my green cotton filter, it's been fitted for nearly 2 years now. :)
 
After having new Grabber AT's and a plastic vortex filter fitted Tuesday, I went for my MOT today and it flew through, unlike my mates Freelander who was also booked in today. His failed miserably on loads of things. All easily sorted, but it failed nevertheless.
 
Fitted new disc and pads.

Now an auxiliary belt is squealing.. Which one is it I wonder. Do I replace both regardless.

hmmm could be a problem then.


you can just remove the side protection by undoing three bolts from above, this will give you enough access.

even easier to get to without the roadwheel on too

And being in the south east, it might just be raining tomorrow.......

Jacking up & wheel off no problem as I did that today to get the discs off.

What should I be looking for?
 
Driving to work this morning, stopped at the lights and got a massive cumulo nimbus forcing its way out from the offside of the bonnet.
Limped to the LR dealer just down the road, looked under the bonnet at the empty header tank. Marvellous, I concluded.

Dealer gave me a lift home in a new Range Rover Sport SDV6 (the bastard). I now want one.

Anyhoo, they phoned about 5 hours later.

Sniff test and compression test all fine. Just has a massive air lock.
Replaced header tank (it was cracked), drained and (carefully) refilled.
Purrs like a kitten now :)
 
Fitted day light running lights and got some kingpin AT tyres on my spare set of alloys for the winter time. Plus brushed the back out after a trip to the tip.
