OK, got the camera out now. This is the mysterious pipe I was talking about -

You can see in the middle of the pipe where it splits using a T junction piece. There was a rubber pipe the same width as on the other ends but I took it off to try and get a match at the local motor factors tomorrow.

The next pic shows where the other end attaches. You see the condenser type thingy just behind and under the valve fluid bottle tied to the air filter neck? It fits on the right side of that (out of shot).

One more thing, when taking these pics I noticed there seems to be something missing off the bottom right side of the block, taken a photo as best I could (below). Whats meant to be bolted in here? There are two bolt holes and it looks like there has been something there in the past, just dont know what its meant to be. Certainly not anything I have taken off or it would be in a bag in the boot waiting to go back in at a later date...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Placcy bottle & hose to manifold is an "upper cylinder lube" system (manifold vacuum or venturi vacuum sucks it in) with flow adjuster sticking out above the sight tube, one drop a minute is ok if you can get it to keep doing it. "Flashlube" is one brand. Usually if mixed in petrol tank it's at a rate of 1ml/litre of petrol. You need this system with LPG it helps to prevent valve/seat wear by cooling the valves. That's what the lead in the petrol used to do.

You should block off the T if it's not connected as it will upset fuel regulation and whatever else is relying on that vacuum line.

Change the lambda sensor (which had lost its heater ) for an old MG one I had "in stock" - - no more juddering from cold now :)

Had to swap the connector - MG and those on Ebay are a four square connector mine fitted was four pins in a line .

put my center console back together after i hastily removed it when smoke was comming out. Turned out to be a burnt out switch

Been under mine applying waxoyl as there was some corrosion and with only 21k on it it didn't look good. Looks great now but hard work!

Moved the anti roll bar back across AGAIN and put a jubilee clip round the fecker to stop it moving any more. Welded a little patch over where my exhaust hanger used to be so no more noise. Looks horrible but sounds loved again

... I thought I'd add a little extra style to the dash. So I cut a tree down and did this...

Fool...you do of course realise that you'll now receive a visit from the Green Taliban for alluding to hacking down a tree simply to adorn the interior of your bourgeois vehicle. That, however, will be nothing compared to the compensation the Polar bears will be seeking as a result of your thoughtless joke at time when their natural environment is being seriously threatened by the use of wood effect interior trim!:behindsofa:

Washed and waxed the exterior, cleaned the interior. This will of course ensure that my 99er is in perfect working order and won't as a consequence develop any mechanical issues for the foreseeable future...
...Anyone who doubts this logic will be assimilated shortly thereafter at a time most inconvenient to them.

Changed the oil and filter today - I must love it - oil /filter , plugs and air filter, more than I have done on most cars for a while !

It rewarded my efforts by illuminating the TC light a couple of times.........

Hi everyone, What a week it was, hope I don't go through that for a long long while on my 2002 TD4 Auto.
Decided to first change the breather filter and it seemed it has never been done because it was the rolled string type and blocked solid. I used the ordinary foam type since i already had a couple. Then I decided while at it, to remove the intake manifold because when I changed the small elbow last week, due to being split and a lot of smoke was coming out, I noticed there was a lot of like grinding paste inside the EGR. It took me a good four hours to have the manifold really clean, using a lot of degreasing agents and the high pressure water hose, that was enough for one day .then
Next day I put back the dry and spotless manifold using the same gaskets as they were still in good nick,so why not.And put an EGR bypass bought from ebay along with a new long hose to the intercooler as the small elbow one I did earlier.Oh yes and also plugged the vacuum pipe.
Went for a test drive and I must say, there was a hell of a difference. The car went like a train.Good job done and I was very pleased.
Two days later the right rear door lock didn't function properly,it closes but doesn't open, the door had to be opened from the inside, so bought a right rear door lock and fitted that too.It took me a while because I never done one before but now it's ok too.
The next day went shopping with the mrs. very hot inside the car, "why not open the sunroof to let the heat out" she said, so I did. I must say there was a difference. When we arrived back home and went to shut down the sunroof, it wouldn't shut. The motor does work but with strange noise.Never happened before although I haven't opened the sun roof all that much, still, put the car inside the garage with the intention of seeing what went wrong in the morning.
To be honest I did have a look but I couldn't figure out what was wrong so I went to the dealer. They said that both rails were damaged. Too expensive for the time being, so I told them to try shut it down and disconnect it.
That, the man did using aggressive brutal force. Glad that was over and went home hoping nothing else crops up this week. carcar

I don't think that is correct.
If they did make the LR exhaust? the over the counter Bosal stuff is much lower quality. Iirc the factory exhaust system was made in the UK but the company went bust after Rover failed.

:behindsofa: :scratching_chin::scratching_chin:

Strange that... as when I worked as a Machine Tool Service Engineer and had a call to Bosal at Bamber Bridge, Nr. Preston some years ago they were producing exhausts for Land Rover on one of the production lines. It caught my eye as I had the Vogue 3.9 at the time and there were Land Rover pallets full of them waiting to be shipped to Solihull.

Clutch/DMF & more!

Clutch went three months ago and after reading various posts on here opted to replace the DMF and slave cylinder at the same time. Also had to get front prop shaft bearings, one wheel bearing done and rear brake shoes replaced. got some wild quotes and went with a local garage (Ryeside Garage in Dalry, Ayrshire) who did all the work including oil filter & gear oil service for £1340. Ouch!
