Not much being as diesel is so expensive
Time maybe to cut my losses and find a ‘new’ project

After the steering suddenly getting heavy on my way home from work, I discovered a PS pipe has failed.:(

Unfortunately it's both the hose from the pump, and the metal pipes to the rack need replacing, bloody typical.

@Nodge68 there is a FL2 HSE FS near me I've been considering

States PS intermittently goes heavy, could be fluid or pump. If I take a peek I'll look at the pipework

Cheers, hope you get sorted swiftly!

Today I received these items in the post.

They were the metal PS pipes, as the pipes on the vehicle are rather rusty. I also ordered a parking brake cable, although the brake cable was also delivered with a £1.50 fine from the Royal Mail, because the seller didn't put enough postage on the package.

I changed the parking brake cable, which has made the parking brake feel much more how it should.

I also fitted the replacement solid PS high pressure pipe.
I couldn't get the return pipe fitting out the rack, so gave up trying, and just fitted the pipe that was needed for the flexy high pressure pipe when that arrives (tomorrow hopefully).

The PS pipe kit also came with the correct PS fluid, which isn't the normal D3 most LRs have.

One thing I find strange (apart from the fact that these delicate pipes aren't protected from road spray by the arch liner) is the metal PS pipes are used to support the fuel line, which is fitted to the engine, but the rack is bolted to the body. Odd that.

FL2; Went in to local indy to have lower front suspension arms replaced. Certainly has eliminated the horrible steering shake on some road surfaces. Still get shake under braking, so that's new disc and pads to do soon.

Also asked them to do a Haldex service. Invoice just listed the oil, so I asked what about the filter?! Apparently they couldn't get the filter housing off. Seezed up, so just did oil. Disappointed with that. Is the seezed filter a thing?

Sold the TD4 for more than what I was asking ( made an offer I couldn't refuse ) , off to live in Crewe and pull a tin tent around the country. Its well prepped for them anyway and will serve them proud. I'll miss the TD4 for sure

@Nodge68 would be your best bet but I think he may be a bit distracted right now, o_O

Not even my car and I'm raging for you that the new parts arrived defective
Too true. More annoying is this part was sold as an OE part, and the picture looked like an OE pipe.

Even more annoying than being sold a crap part, is the duff flexy pipe is a one time push fit to the new solid pipe, so both parts need to be replaced.
It really ****es me off, that one crap part, then ****s up another new part.:mad::mad:

That's a real bummer mate.
Can you see why or where from?
It's weeping from the push fit joint Ali.

I can see the fluid on the rubber mount below the connector.
Unfortunately it's a one time push fit, so now it's pushed together, the new solid pipe also needs replacing again.:mad:
