They've arrived. Now waiting to see if it's going to rain or not before fitting.

Replaced both the serpentine belt, which had snapped on my way home on Sunday, just about 10 yards from the house, and the air-con belt, which was showing signs of cracking on the vees. Quite pleased that I managed it without removing the front wheel, or even jacking it up. I just removed the splash shield, and managed without any difficulty, even though I was lying in the gutter beside the pavement, lol :)

Was it the one on the egr that took the persuasion?

Mike
My technical description will be thus. It was the one that disappears beneath the front grill of the car toward the radiator!
Apparently, when they built the Freelander they put the engine in place and the body on thereafter. That meant that access to the Jubilee clip is thwarted. A pair of long-nosed pliers was needed to start to loosen the head of the screw on the clip, followed by a tiny spanner to really undo it. Thereafter, undo the easy bit in the engine bay and wobble the hose free from down below. (Are you keeping up?).Having finally released the bottom connection the new silicone hose slipped onto both ends and was connected. The 'clip' that had been difficult was realigned, so that, in the future, the screw on the clip is situated so that it can be seen and undone.

just a passing thought as is my want at 12.45 am... will the usb socket be permanently Live or
can I assume it will be neutral when the engine is turned off.?. My wife is thinking of a big
land rover bonfire during the night.
Both the rear accessory power and front cigarette lighter sockets are turned off with the key removed.

Got the idle air valve off and cleaned it. Made loads of difference. Was stuck then when cleaned it , it's got some "play" in it now.
Should have seen the crap that came out!

As we don`t require rear fog lights here I have rewired the taillights to improve their visibility/brightness.
I have also repurposed the rear fog light switch to operate the relay to my front
driving lights. Works very well!

Serviced the mother in law's V6 for the first time in 2 years.
Also fitted an LED light bar because she was so impressed with mine.

She wanted it in a more discreet location though.

Started on the remote oil filter install, including temp and pressure gauges
Interesting. I fitted a thermostatically controlled oil cooler take off to the existing mounting point. But I still have to drop the entire under tray /sump guard to change to oil filter. Hadn't thought about a remote filter mount. Keep us posted with pic's - especially ho you route the plumbing!
