Took off front rocker cover, cleaned gauze, replaced gasket, put cover back on, realised I'd forgotten to put the gauzes back in , took it off again! Luckilly the gasket still looked ok (only 9nm torque!).

Broke the breather pipe that runs between the rocker covers and the intake - fixed with insulating tape while I find another.

Then noticed that the T from the other breather pipe (nearest to the oil filler cap) seems to stop abruptly after about 3-4 inches. Is this right? Isn't it supposed to be connected to something?

[edit] This is the one which seems to go nowhere [/edit]

Fitted the passenger seat heater today as it arrived today. Thanks to DD3 for the idea of using zip ties for re-fastening the fabric to the foam so so much easier. Just going to order the under seat relay for it now. :)

Well a trip to a local breakers was on today!

returned with:
New maf Meter (complete with Pierburgh maf!)
Inlet manifold and EGR (currently soaking in Mr Muscle)
Rear roller parcel shelf - wrong colour but currently drying after first coat of satin black!
Front centre overhead light cluster (my map lights are fooked)
Passenger side roof grab handle end cover.

the lot cost me all of £40!

(great when you find an old mate works there!)

Finish cleaning inlet and EGR tonight then i might have half a chance of swapping them out tommorrow!

2000 L series 5 door - replaced the air filter to turbo pipe with silicon elbows and an ali T piece (for the oil breather) per various L series tuning comments on removing the corrugated flexi OE tube.

Marginal but still positive noticeable difference in pickup, so possibly worth the 30-ish quid cost long term.

Ordered new front shocks to see if this stops the front end clunking!!!

Added 200ml of 2-stroke oil to a tankful of diesel to see if there really is a difference. Not sure if there is a result - seems to run smoother and a little quieter, but might be my imagination.

More work tomorrow - EGR blanking, new first gear sensor switch (original one broken causing HDC amber warning light (I think!!)

Just ordered some off fleabay, for 3quid, when I fit them I'll put some pics up to stop the haters hating. Even if people don't like to mess about with cars, they will when the see these. Aesthetically, the difference is immense and definitely a lot better! Where can I get the clips that hold the access panel in, as one of them shot into the engine somewhere when I pushed it in to check the bulb fitment???

Just bled the clutch through!
Wife lost all gears whilst out.
when bled there was a crap load of gunk came out!
something tells be the fluid has at some point got low and dirt/dust had ingressed before it was topped up!

anyway clutch ok for now but will keep an eye on it!

Just had a look at them, don't like them. And yes my freelander is modified.

Fitted new brake switch ! No more lights complaining on dash now!
Now just to figure out why my brake light still isn't working!

Front discs and pads fitted, front and rear wheels swapped round to put the new tyres on the rear, new regulator fitted to rear passengers window.

Fitted a heavy duty flasher relay. Took about 10s. But an enjoyable 10sec. Just waiting for my strip of LEDs to arrive so that I can light up the boot when I open the back door.
