Of course I know what i've done. Don't panic!!!! The rear have a larger circumference to the front so no fear of damage to VCU + IRD. I've always put new to the back and changed in pairs.
You're very brave. The earlier Freelanders had an IRD ratio that had a slight reduction in drive to the rear, so slightly larger tyres at the back could equal that out. Although the newer tyres on the back principle still applies to later Freelanders (think the change was in about 2000), the tolerances were reduced.
Do you know the diameter's of the Latitude and Scorpions - they may both be 225/55/17 but may have quite different rolling diameter.
This guy bought 4 Goodyear Efficientgrips that were supposedly 'the same' but different enough to cause problems on the Freelander. Admittedly, his problems were immediately detectable...
