Finished one door. The door card is pretty shot, especially along the bottom where the door frame had rotted. I glassed the insides where they’d cracked and they’ll have to do for now.
The doors are certainly improved from before.

Replaced the well worn and corroded headlight levelling motors - eliminating the rapid tapping when lights turned on (that had me bamboozled for a while) also replaced the halogens for LEDs. Super easy jobs, even for a no-clue like myself - but just wanted to tart the old bird up a bit…. And be able to see in the dark.

Tonight - switch out front lamps and indicators for smoked.

Replaced the power steering pipe that had a massive kink in it when I got a refurbished Power Steering box. Not too bad of a job. Had to cut off the pipe with junior hacksaw to get a 14 mm socket over the bolts going into the pump. Wasnt too fiddly in the end.

Whilst I was there I checked the front wheel bearings and adjusted the nut a little bit.

Did notice that I have a slight coolant leak and traced it back to the oil cooler - ah Landy theres always something else to fix! I bloody fitted a new one 2 years ago.

Oil and filter change, going well with no spills until attempting to remove the filter, loosened off, turning by hand with a bowl in other hand to catch the drips. Sodding filter slipped out of my hand and puked dirty oil over my nice clean (ish) hardstanding, one day I'm going to get this right, you would think after 50 years of oil changes I might be getting it right soon.

Plastic bag…. once the filter starts to move pull bag up .

Went for a nice long sunny trundle in the Cotswolds, the pig behaved impeccably and everywhere I parked folk had a nice word or Two to share - National Trust car par parks are obviously a Defender enthusiast magnet…..

I’ve decided not to bother tarting up the failing paintwork, that’s for the new owner to decide- it’s now in the For Sale section!

I put some heavy duty steering arms on. Hoping you can help. The front one the track rod ends are both like have a lot of thread showing seems way too much ? I haven’t had tracking done yet but I don’t see that pulling them in tbat much ?

Try adding a photo. Those who know what they are talking about will find it easier to comment.

Take it back off & see how many threads are into the rod. These TR may be long threads.

+1 on photos

So is this a 90/110 ;)
Did you get the steering damper conversion as well?

so looks like a GL steering arm?
(This is mine so threads look about the same on the track rods)

now have you got a leaking swivel or had you just over filled them? (Oil showing on disk )
