Ah, but Subaru's designs are so good they can't get clogged up with water or seize the motor. Subaru Foresters are very good...
I did have brand new Saab 9-5 Aero Hot Estate in 2001, all 250bhp of crazy front wheel drive. At the time the fastest estate car on planet earth, now superseded by the Audi RS4's. Although very dated by today's standards, these old 9-5 Aero Hot Estates are tremendous cars. I loved its sheer capacity for long distance driving, touring holidays et al. In my mind I still hold the World Land Speed Record for West Berkshire to Monaco via Bordeaux, hitting 148mph on some of the Autoroutes...anti-Frog Rozzer detection system radar'ed to max'
Sadly, we can't travel at such lightspeeds these days
Everything in the 9-5 was built with ergonomics in mind...the seats are still some of the very best ever made and they had a "Nighttime..." mode dashboard button where all the dash lights were turned off except for the dimmed speedometer. It was as if one was piloting a jet fighter. Cool...very cool cars
eta: to this day, the 9-5 Aero is the only car to get me two speeding tickets within 8mins, both over 95mph [!] The first by the Welsh Plod heading East over the Severn Bridge, the second @ 7mins Xsecs by the old Avon & Somerset Constabulary heading East on the M4. The miserably cocky anti-English Welsh Plod threw the book at me
The A&SC gave me a right ticking off over the phone, proceeding to teach me about excess exhaust pollution, danger to other road users, excessive car wear & tear at high speed...a day's speed awareness course and a £120 fine. In hindsight the A&SC were very civilised and quite courteous.
And the Saab? Yep, cool cars...
