Went to replace my number plate lamp with the Optimill one with a reverse camera built in.
It seems whoever owned it before had replaced the original with an LED one, which is fine but they clearly had an aversion to connectors, as they have removed them and just soldered the wires and taped them.
I like to try and keep it clean if I can so ordered a new connector on Ebay for a fiver.
Not a massive cost issue, just a delay :(
Ah well plenty more things to be getting on with...

Yesterday I said it had been 10 years that the 90 had been on the same timing belt.
Today after a road test to warm her up, everything seemed to be good, in fact seems quieter, is that possible? - maybe the old w'pump or belt tensioner were noisy. Anyway found a slight weep on a couple of hose joints, not going to worry too much about that just gave the clips a bit of a telling off.
Went to write up what I had done in the 90's diary and found the timing belt had last been changed in June 2009, that's 12 years, gulp.
Anyone want to beat that?? I think I've been a very lucky bunny.

OEM £250, Motor factor £130, maybe you really do get what you pay for. Let you know in 18 years or maybe less...

Gave it a wash before it rained. And repacked the ammo box in the back with the jack, wheelbrace, tow strap and a few other bits.

Full of positivity after washing the 90, I had a look at the driver’s footwell. Looks like I’ll need some welding for the MoT in July...:oops:

Gave "Norman" an oil and filters change, and then a wash and brush up.

No smarty points for guessing which side the doris sits in.

Having got the rear wiper to work a couple of weeks ago I decided to see why the rear washer doesn't. It's the old type with a bag and pump in the back door.
No bag & pump but pump wires there, LGB and B. According to the diagrams the LGB is the feed from the dash switch - twist for wipers, push for water - the black is earthed, I assumed to the door frame. But the black wire goes into the loom. Wired it up to the pump but no pump action; wiper is fine so not the fuse as it shares the same 5A with the rear wiper in the supplementary holder for RWW & HRW (10A).
Ran out of time so didn't check the feed from the switch itself.

The other problem is there isn't a tube to the nozzle which is on the top outside corner of the door. It should go through the frame but the only tubing has the W/R wire for the HRW going through it. I have tubing and a nozzle and am thinking of putting it though the door onto the wiper arm itself. Tried removing the nozzle from the door but the plastic is disintegrating.

Something for tomorrow.

Had another look at the RWW today.

The wiring to the RWW switch is as per spec except no LG/B to the pump feed terminal (pic1). Found it amongst the spaghetti. Crimped a female spade on the wire and plugged into the switch......still no washer pump but wipers works fine. There is a double fuse holder on the fuse panel for the RWW & HRW and the RWW fuse (5A) is fine (pic2); there is a slot for the HRW but no fuse and wiring to it. There is also a second empty unwired double fuse holder too (pic3).

There doesn't appear to be a feed to the LG/B in the safari door; pushing the now wired up RWW switch doesn't give power to the wire in the door so I guess there's a break somewhere.

Finally there is an unused terminal block coming from the centre dash loom with paired blue, green, green/white, purple, & white wires, one of the green wires seems to lop back in to the plug. Any ideas what this is for?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.
Purple is permanent live.
I’m sure there should be a cable on that green box contact.
Is the RWW a twist on,then twist again to wash?
