The umbrella should always be open as landrovers leak that bad.

Are they both fully closed, look like different lengths

Hadn't extended the new one. Fits and runs great.
Good, presumably the noise has gone?
The closed length is different, as the axle moves the prop will lengthen or shorten. If not going off road it might not matter so much.
