Would have been a

better finish, but my flap wheel had worn out....

I managed to get the gearbox in place by raising it up on a hi lift jack and stacking it on bricks. Unfortunately it needs to come off, as I cant seem to get it to mate the last 20cm onto the engine. THe clutch plate is the right way installed, but I think the plate might had been knocked out of alignment, as it slides on the splines, but I think its fouling on the new spigot bearing.

Paid £870.52 at a local LR garage for:
a newly reconditioned LHD steering box,
new drop arm,
new drive belt,
new high pressure pipe to steering box,
new sets of o-rings,
new cold climate PAS steering fluid,
and a very empty wallet.

Finished the refurb on the driving lights I got from the LR show last month. Luckily I had a couple of the proper connectors for the lamps wiring loom so I can connect them straight to the original wiring. I'm just waiting for the Puma Defender heated seat switch to turn up then I can get them up & running.

Started working with my new project car: Disco 2 TD5 manual. First engine oil change with new full flow and centrifugal filters, and engine air filter.

Previous owner had for some reason that I cant understand used lock nuts for wheels. Wheels are not stolen in Finland, it's like winning in lottery if it would happen. And like it always goes, the socket for them is lost....Welding machine solved that and those lock nuts went to trash bin forever.

LH front side marker had cracks in it so I decided to buy new markers and replace both. Parts for D2 seem to be very cheap, Freelander 1 was the same.

so drained it and it had water in it .then started first turn of key. so i will see if it starts in the morning.

At last got the Winch Bumper from Dixon Fabrication and fitted over the weekend! Seriously pleased with the quality. Also meant i could fit the Dirt Monkey steering guard as this didnt fit with the standard bumper without chopping the bumper.

Changed the oil & filter, although it's only done 2,848 miles since the last change (July 20). I put 5w/30 fully syn in it now the weather has turned a bit nippy.
I used a Mahle filter this time but my oil filter tool doesn't fit it unlike the genuine filter so I'll check it for tightness over the next few weeks just in case.
