MOT passed :) Another year of cheap and highly capable motoring sorted.

Everyone in the garage gets to have a look at all me shiny paint underneath too - and they all reckon how tidy it is anorl :)

HP pipe to number 2 injector came loose on the way to the test station  bl**dy smelly thing  - so that got me an advisory  - FFS!! it's too bl**dy expensive to use for washing the engine orft - now tight and not leaking ;)

sold the D2 !!! watched it drive away, now wondering what to get to do next? another D2 cos there fairly simple or be brave and try a D3/4,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Took the D3 to be assessed by an independent LR garage:-

After a quick once over engine sounds good with nothing sounding untowwards, overall condition of the motor appears good

So its now booked in early March for a gear box oil change and something to do with the clutch travel as its a bit sloppy for the engineers liking and some fluid to replace?

A more intrusive inspection is going to take place for possibly more preventative maintenance

Yep a D3 would be a nice upgrade ;)

Good to hear you're good!!
Hows you d3 coming on?

indeed, know they need abit more looking after but are so nice to drive

mechanically the D3 is done apart from brake hoses , then later will be fitting some solar panels on the roof

I didn't mention this as I enquired about this today with the chap and he went against everything I read to a degree

He told me believe it or not " he has never heard of a 2.7td oil pump issue? " but will look into it, this guy has owned this garage years and has told me he's seen 00's of D3's over the years with only one having a snapped crank and that was on in his opinion the worse engine the 3L variant D4 but has seen lots of turbo issues on both 2.7 and 3.0 as they both like very clean engine oil? so expressed to me the importance of frequent oil changes with them I did state that the belts were changed 3k ago at 79k and it had been dry stored for five years he told me they don't need doing but I am going to get him to look at these next month also. I'm going to get him to do them anyway as I don't wish to take the risk of possible engine failure he seemed very knowledgeable and showed me his 4.4 V8. The place was full of newish RR's, freelander's and D3/4's etc He checked mine for EGR removal which its had as he told me they can be a nightmare.

He was very animate about the 2.7 being the better engine than the 3.0 now the guy knows something I don't or is completely nuts ha ha

Ill keep you informed mate

thks, what year D3 did u get plse

alas he needs to read up ref oil pump covers as they can and do fail, which can cause catastrophic damage, belts are to be done every 105,000 miles or 7 x years

The members who own D3 on here is slowly increasing so help is always there with any questions etc

what do u think of the D3 plse coming from a D2, thks

2006, seems bizarre he isn’t aware of it?

maybe I’m just lucky to have found something decent? I’ll get them done anyway as a preventative measure. I’ve never owned a D2 only two FL1’s a V6 and TD4 and more amg Mercs you can shake a stick at! I’m more about Sunday driving now than speed ha ha
