I replaced my older SRD000070 SLABS unit with the newer SRD500070 unit.
On my NAS Disco 2 it was very easy to do if you flip out the glove box, remove the mount nuts, drop the SLABS unit to the floor board and then unplug the 5 connectors.
Now I get the 3 bongs/bells when I start up the truck I guess since I don’t have CDL wiring.

I get 3 bongs sometimes ‍♂️ no idea why no fault lights (yes they all work)

The 3 bongs signal that the SLABS unit did a systems check and everything is a-ok.
Just worry if after the 3 bongs you get a fault light.

Took the slack out of the steering box, with a tweak of the adjuster... drives so much better.
Checked my aircon auxiliary fan, to find its seized up.... +1 on the list of things to do.

took it for a 10 mile test run, still 6 faults on the ace, everything else clear, runs and drives really well, bags of power, don't know what re-map it has had but it goes like fook!

Took it for a test drive, after replacing the rear o/s door actuator..... -1 on the list

However, just short from home, the car wanted to stop, as if I was applying the brakes... Got out, to find the front and rear left brakes toasty red, and locked on smoking...and the brake pedal hard and no travel Got the missus to rescue me and returned with a handful of brake spanners. Disconnected the brake pipe from the master cylinder, and blanked it off with a union which had a hammered flat piece of brake pipe in it.. which meant I could drive it home... +1 on the list

I'll start a thread for this one.... but I think its going to be a knackered Master Cylinder, which refuses to de-pressurise after the pedal is let go...

Why have you changed it? Seems that i have the same issue (no 3 bongs, and handles CDL like old type).

I have solved a very disturbing vibration which came between 2200-3200 rpm. I have changed hand brake parts (shoes, springs, cable) and also done the mod recommended by LR for services (grind off about .5mm from the rear face of left hand shoe).

I'm adding a CDL and the newer SRD500070 SLABS unit 'electronically' plays nice with it.
Other D2 owners state that the SRD500070 SLABS unit has a better response for ABS, HDC, EBD, and ETC to suit CDL due to its upgraded firmware.

As for 3 bongs... It's a SLABS system self check letting you know the system is good-to-go.
if you have the SRD000150 or SRD500070 units, try turning on the ignition and wait for the chimes to stop, then start your Disco. Then you will immediately hear the 3 bongs like the 3 amigos fault but there isn't a fault. It kind of freaked me out when I first heard it. lol
Most people don't hear the 3 bongs because A) they have the older SLABS unit or B) they quickly start up the Disco before the chimes finish.

Seems that I have an older SLABS unit even I have a 2003 facelift D2 (maybe changed by previus owner). No 3 chimes at all and if I engage CDL (also just installed the linkage) when the ignition is off I have TC and HDC light on. If I engage CDL when the ignition is ON, no ABS lights at all.
Is SRD50070 the only unit with upgraded functions?

Fitted a switch panel today. Just waiting on the switches to arrive. Three switches one for the lights in the grill, one for the roof light and one for the rear work light.

went 120mile with a car trailer to pick up a car. on the way home 2 miles from home temp gauge crept a touch then went back down.
found this pipe had rubbed on top of the steering box. (new box just before I got the motor)

Isn't it the egr cooler hose?

Just replaced the crush gasket on the oil drain from the turbo to cure a weep which was just starting. Also helicoiled one of the threads for the rotary oil filter cover, the one nearer the engine is fine, t'other one has been biting the threads further down ever since I got it and last oil change I could barely get the bolt to do up.
