Sorted everything for the injector washer /seal change and the new SLS airbags to be fitted this weekend.

I am sure it will all go easy without any issues.......Honest.

Just cleaned the front passenger's seat.
A couple of days ago I was asked to give my neighbour's daughter a lift. That was OK, but the dress she was wearing was covered in glitter. Bloody glitter! FFS!
Glitter really works well on black leather ....... not!

We had something similar with something our daughter wore when we took her to a concert. Was forever finding glitter even in cars we've bought since selling the infected one.
Today I've replaced my SLS airbags which were original by the look of them. Gave everything a wire brush and paint and protective wax while I could.
 
Nothing to my disco for weeks, I've just been reading about a range rover owner who's spending a grand a month keeping his l322 on the road :eek:.
Got a couple of cosmetic jobs to do but nothing urgent but for what I paid for it I'm pretty chuffed :D

Well that did not go according to plan, decided to do the two jobs above over at my Fathers because he has the space on the drive. Get over there to find he has only gone a bought himself another D2 Td5, This one a 53 plate. This is on top of the 04 plate we sourced for him 2 weeks ago and I have been working on , servicing etc to make sure it is all hunky dory. So I had a butchers at the "new" one , needs a good service, all oils filters, and a chassis check over including a waxoyl.

Oh, and about mine.........I took all my tools, which I had loaded this morning into the D2, but I forget the two sets of axle stands :oops::oops:. After looking at his I decided to go home and do the injectors and airbags tomorrow......fingers crossed.

waxed passenger side as fooking tourist up here in the lakes drive cars twice as wide as anybody elses, will not get into the fooking side! Bastids! rant over!

He hasn't started forgetting things has he? Quite common as we get older I believe, although I can't remember. Even you forgot your axle stands!
It is unusual for somebody to forget that he bought a D2 just two weeks ago and then go out and buy another one.

It did, got the airbags swapped over, just left to see if it will drop or if this has fixed the issue.

Nothing would surprise me...................LOL..............Seems quite happy to let me service and waxoyl the "new" one as well, ordered all the stuff last night. Oh happy happy joy joy.........looking at the chassis, it will require a bit more TLC.........may even do some preventative welding before waxoyling.

@brian47 how did you get on with yours? I hope it was not too extensive.

Yeah, that bit of welding was done with no problems (apart from paying for it) and the air bags went on OK. The back end now seems stable again.
I haven't done anything yet about the steering knuckle bottom ball joint rubber boots, I'll leave it for now and see what comes of it for the MoT/service in January. I might give him the go ahead to replace the boots then. I'll have him check the other rubber covers in that area if that's the case, top ball joints and CV joint covers while he's able to have a good look. If the ball joints are worn then he'll have to do them. I did check with him about how they do it, and yes, they use a proper "Gee clamp" type cold hand press the do the job, no heat, so I'm OK with their methodology. He did say that he hoped that there would be no need to replace the ball joints too, the job is a right mare by all accounts.
 
Sounds good, I have one of those G clamps units which I did get just in case I ever needed it, but it is also handy for doing UJ's .

Well, here's hoping. Changing the boots is just a case of cracking a couple of taper joints, and that's usually quite easy. He did say that there's one reason why he doesn't mind me getting involved with what gets done and that's because at least I understand the jobs.
 
Just tested the airbags I took off this morning.

One had a little leak. Visible in a bucket of water. The other held air fine. Although both sides were dropping over night and yet at other times it would sit for days OK.
"Good" one will be kept as a spare , just in case it is ever needed in an emergency.

Nice to find a fault though.

Good News,

The suspension stayed in the up position last night, will give it a few more days before dancing the jig of Disco joy....Changed the injector washers and seals this morning, Whoever designed the FPR and its pipework connection in that are with the brake master cylinder in the way should be shot in the knackers.

So fingers crossed in the AM it will start on the button while still being at the correct height..........Neighbours can see me dancing the jig of Disco Joy twice.....

Now just to plan the intermediate shaft O ring leak fix. But first got to service the new D2 for Dad.

Collected three yesterday, left the house at 5am and finally got home at half three in the morning :oops:

Dismantled one ready for the scrappers tomorrow and took one for a mot which it spectacularly failed :(
