Got injector loom changed last night. Cleaned out the loom down to ECU will just have to clean it every couple of days till I'm sure its clean.
Hopefully pick up my painted rear quaters
And well its decided it wanted to rain inside too. Appears to be middle to the front right side of sunroof which makes sence since it gets parked at night with the drivers side slightly lower. Guess a check for drain plugs blocked or broken..
If I cant find anything il remove and sealer the frames back onto body and see what happens.
 
Well the sunroofs are sealed shut permanently.
After investigation it was weeping out from the frame to the black plastic box before the drain tube.
Seems to have been prised/dented
Someone had had ago before and filled the thing with rubbish silicone.
So my thoughts was nope im not playing the leaking game at all so opened both sunroofs removed glass to frame seal.
Sealer under against and above the seal then shut the glass to squeeze the sealer in everywhere it still smells atm. Another layer of top sealer.
Then went over the glass to frame joint and the frame to body joint with 2 layers of garage roof leak fix fiber paint stuff then 2 layers of paint brushed over once hardened.
Left the lock bit of the manual handle on so it stays locked shut and removed the long bit of handle so it can't be twisted.

Happy to say no more water has got in.

Priority was no more leaking not working sunroofs
 
Replaced watts linkage and arms today, more of a pig of a job than I hoped it would be but its done and the nasty suspension noise that I've been chasing for weeks has gone. Woo hoo!!

The replacement part was from Grove Engineering (would recommend) and thamk god for discovery2.co.uk - that guy is my hero at the moment!!

Terrafirma steering rod, drag link and panhard rods and 2" airbag spacers next weekend - joy!

belts done in 2017, sadly not oil pump (old car should pay for that ) but ive negotiated it own to £6175 as it wants that doing plus the bushes have started to delaminate no knock or bangs on test drive , body work is pretty much as mint mint as you'll find ever so slight amount of discolouration to drivers rear arch but its been caught in time to manage and underneath sills look decent to as far as you can see in the gaps in the plastic and no crumbling so a tin of dinitrol will be put to use to keep it that way

wants tracking doing so be interesting to find a place that can do it correctly setting up the angle sensor etc

other than that everything works recent compressor and alternator just general service items have been done on time which is nice

coupe of repairs to do on the old mondeo i run about with then i can spend the mondey on getting pump down and anew belts for good measure
 
Nice looking motor there... Uttoxeter, not far from me... Was it a private seller, or a part time trader.

Private seller, they bought it on a whim then realised it only just fit though their drive gates by an inch either side so they are moving to something smaller

Its currently tax free as a disabled car so that will have to be changed too and apparently you need to go to the post office to do that as you cant do it over the phone
 
Ordered some new tyres for it.
Insa Turbo Ranger AT ... heard mixed reports about them so thought I'd try a set and see for myself whether they're any good.

see you’ve got manual seats, I changed mine to electric non heated and really made a lot of difference in comfort , as the electric seats have a support on the back of ur knees

know there’s a mod that u can have short bursts of power but I made a new loom and got a new non memory switch , gives me constant power then

any mods that u plan on doing plse feel free to give me a shout and will help all I can

this one drives miles better than my work mates which basically needs new shocks and has only doen 10k more, his drives like a boat this one doesn't

re seats I think ill be keeping them as they are reason being the electric one does not go back far enough for my legs found that in an HSE and an SE I tried where as manual goes back to exactly where I need, plus these are heated :)

oil pump is worrying me at the mo and I've not even collected it yet ( bloody bank lost my money for 24 hours :mad:) been quoted this morning £816.17 for both belts water pump and oil pump which seems about right to me at infield 4x4 LR specialists

belts were done in 2017 so its not failed yet but if I did decide to drop it straight into use it would be doing 90 miles a day so I'm having a bit of a wobble about it

if u ask on the D3 forum there may be one of the mechanics near u that might be cheaper , but that’s not too bad

does that quote include the rear belt , new crankshaft bolt as it’s a stretch type

They're about 10 minutes from work which makes things convenient, not the cheapest I'll find but our head of legal used them for his previous D3 and his current D4 so no trust issue with their workmanship, will ask about the bolts thank you for that

going to get it home and wait till i an afford to have it changed before using it

At least that plug will never rust...

Took mine out today, and it doesn't feel stable. I have a long list of things to do, so I'll add bushes where needed to the list now. Still rumbles from the front end if I slightly move the steering wheel in either direction. Nothing if I let go and leave it to go straight. Still need to find time to replace the front wheel bearing, now I have everything I need but the 3/4 socket set. Paid the company corporation tax today, so I've decided to wait till more customers put their hard earned into my account before spending any more on tools...
 
got new to me D3 home last night decide to stick some fuel in it on the way only to find the fuel flap is a bit broken, keeps it shut spent 10 minutes golgeing how to open it via the rear cubby hole and yanking the release cable, got it open and looks like the clip has seen better days butI've found repair kits on ebay so will get one of those ordered as one of the first things I do after oil pump and a good health check by my prefered indy
 
Installed new set of downstream NTK #25624 O2 sensors since the one side's wiring was wearing away on the front prop shaft.
Popped 15A fuse F2 in the V8 Engine bay and also had P0141, P0158 & P0161 fault codes.
Good to go now.
