searched for a nice D3 on autotrader/ebay/gumtree as now in a place to buy one...

Realised that no such thing exists only piles of poo for extortionate prices with mot advisory lists as long as your arm by dealers who want top dollar for crap or by the great unwashed who think the shiney body panels hide the rust holes in the chassis / body ...

me thinks it may be some time before I get one

Sold on their image rather than condition. I've lost count on the posts Ive read that say these should be cheap, as no one wants them, due to mechanical and corrosion issues.

I have an exhaust leak somewhere... I think its from running with a bit of Millers Oil in the tank... Anyone fitted one of these off the bay ?

they should be! a 2004 discovery 3 with 150k on the clock should not be worth £6k

what makes me laugh is the ones that have doon 200k plus are still fetching £4.5k, even vw's & audis dont hold their value that well at those miles

Thanks I'll need it! been speaking to a private seller on ebay and asked if any rust on it, said no then when i asked for pictures, they turned up with blatant rust peaking over the sill protectors but apparently "its mint":rolleyes:

it is coming as a bit of a shock the prices tbh got someone messaging me on D3 forum as we speak what wants £6500 for his 123k hse on a 54 plate

ur so welcome mate , indeed I’ve noticed that , side steps seem to be a water trap that can rot the sills out

I imagine u already know but the oil pump replacement is a must along with the belts inc the rear belt

that’s sounds about right, mainly because they haven’t wanted for anything and been extremely well looked after ,

For a decent 2005 base model with around 100,000 miles , with everything done, belts and the body in good nick can get up to around £7k

Please feel free to pm me if I can be ok any help , think there’s about 10 x of us now that own D3s

With mine I bought it as a project , had errors with the suspension and airbag system and knew I could deal with that , took me a good while mind but got there in the end

have u driven one yet

Today I did my 5K mile Air filter, V8 engine oil filter and oil change.
I finally got to check the magnetic oil sump plug I installed on my last oil change. It had a little bit of sludge (my 2020 word of the year. Lol) at the magnetic end of it but I didn’t feel any solid metal chunks in the sludge.

Found the exhaust leak noise... The gasket on the new EGR pipe blank wasnt nipped up as tight as it should have been. I was worried about stripping the manifold threads. Luckily the kit I had included extra gaskets and blanks for a cooler, I didnt have. Leaks now gone..

Also replaced the rear wiper motor. Not a bad job but despit using a trim tool to pry out the rear panel fixings, 10 broke instantly. 20 new ones ordered off Ebay for about a fiver.

Next job is the f/n/s wheel bearing and shaft oil seal... and to fit a new waterproof barrier on the drivers door. The existing one just fell to bits..
