Aye it is a shame you aren't a tad closer lol ;)

Certainly wouldn't be put off by the prospect of a Blown V8 D3 if you can find one.

A nice one was on Ebay a few months ago if i had the cash she would be on my drive now!

Silver and all the toys!!! ;)

Grr. lol

LPG defo!!

Indeed shame about that , would be an awesome project that’s for sure , plus I could learn a lot as well on how to rebuild a V8

I’ll keep an eye out for u and give u a shout if any turn up.

Well the D2 continues to impress.

Was thinking of writing a comparison between it and the P38..

Amazing.

Tow's like a champ and is rather comfortable. ;)

Well, I popped down to Cannock today, and introduced myself to the parts guys at John Craddocks. I'm guessing we will be having a close personal relationship over my time with my new Disco... Walked out with an arm full of parts, and a very much lighter bank account.

Got home and found my new toy had ingested its own air filter, and the mesh to the air flow module was 80% blocked. Also, it needed 2 litres of oil, just to get halfway up the dipstick. Im guessing my idea of servicing and maintenance is a better than the last owners...

Replaced the o/s headlight H7 lamp, and saw that the two front fog lights are totally knackered internally. Ive removed two corroded spot lights off the front, and am contemplating returning it to a stock looking front end...

My relationship with my new toy is going strong, and the learning curve steepens....

Had a laugh with the staff at Craddocks though. I said, "Ive just bought a 53 plate Disco".... Sell it and keep your money was the reply.

Got given this little green thing from my Sister!
Things they find in school lol

Solved the wandering issue.... by checking the tyre pressures.

Bought this D2 TD5 and from the off, it wandered around the road. The last owner fitted fancy valve stem plugs, which were locked off by an allen key. Probably why they wernt checked regularly. Found 22psi in front NS, 27 left NS, and 28 in the two rears. After putting the correct pressures in, it drives like a dream.

Another niggly job knocked off a long list...

On the bright side, I ordered a Nanocom today. Another toy to play with...

Installed the CB.
Got miserable SWR reading though... 2.4
I might need to rethink the gutter mount.
For UHF, VHF (high), and VHF (low), SWR tends to be acceptable. Certainly, I've got it below 1.5:1 for most bands, except HF. on 10 metres (just below UK CB at 11 metres), it's through the ruddy roof (no pun intended). I'm thinking that this is due to the pidddle poor grounding of most of the bodywork, so I'm going to be installing a through-body mount at some point sonner or later, which will hopefully fix the problem. Hope this helps :D

Thanks, the grounding of the mount itself is certainly something I'll look at tomorrow.

The old bus was used as an escort vehicle for the Combines going to the fields behind Dinemore/Queenswood.

Boot was full of tools thanks to the Header on the Harvester basically falling apart on arrival.:confused::D

Oil and filter change.... only to find the previous owner bodged up the centrifugal bolts, and must have stripped the threads.... , and there were 10mm headed nylox nuts fitted to the rear of the housing...

Fitted a new wastegate modulator to see if it made a difference in my lack of power below 2000 rpm. Well NO. Next try is either a MAF or an injector loom. Depends what the nanocom says...

Also found that the front diff is leaking oil from the seals at both n/s and os... I was replacing the front disks and pads at the time. However, despite asking Craddocks twice about the pads they supplied, and being assured they were correct, they were right.... were they feck...

Seems my new toy Discovery is going to be a gift that keeps on giving... Off to Cannock in the morning for a round of fecks, and pick up some more new parts....

Also fitted a replacement front of engine can seal, as there was oil ****ing down the front, and the existing one could be popped out by hand...

Not forgetting bleeding the clutch slave cylinder... as my foot has to be firmly planted in the carpet, before it even thinks about disengaging. Still crunching, so Im looking at replacing the slave unit now...

Also found that the n/s wheel bearing has loads of play... how it got past the MOT a few months ago escapes me...

Im determined to sort out all the niggles .....

Parts on order from Craddocks for my D2Td5. Brake pads, all round; brake discs as well; the n/s/r disc is rather messy (visible grooves around the outer 1cm or so), so might as well do the bloody lot while I'm playing with spanners under the wagon...

Oh, and spare bolts (just in case, you know how it is!). And I have to sort out the transmission brake tension too. That's Tuesday and likely Wednesday as well all spoken for...!

So much for my days off this week... ;)

Just brimmed the tank £97 IIRC

Got 490mi from the last tank - running it down very low mind you which I won't do again :D

MPG is pretty good considering!

No trip so i can't see "mpg"
