Back from doing two laps of the TT course (plus a bit to my house, so 80ish miles)
Once with the MAF disconnected and then again with the brand new LR MAF connected.
What was the difference? With the MAF connected, the engine seemed to have a little more torque at the lower revs and felt smother at the higher revs, but other than that, there was no real difference.
In fact, the difference was so little, I don't think that unless you've got previous experience of a TD5 engine with working MAF connected that you would ever be able to tell that something was wrong!
If anyone else would like to repeat a similar experiment, I'd be interested to know what your findings are.

You forgot the lap with the VDO generic MAF fitted!!...................Out you go again.:p:p

Cheers

Its been a while since I have posted but not much happened with V8
I had problems getting the old Lambda sensor out of the exhaust so decided to take Y piece down pipe off, well bit of a chew on and it came off, 1 snapped stud in manifold, tried getting it out - no luck, manifold is off to extract snapped bolt - that's where i am at.

I replaced my drivers door locking mechanism!! :D.

I now have a car that locks on the button, and both front doors unlock on the button!!
OK. so the rear two doors are both locking, but not unlocking, but hey - that'll go on the list....

Oh, and a bit more cleaning...

Hoovered the carpets only to discover that the front passenger carpet is quite moist.
I've been using the AC all the time recently, so I'm going to check the drain plugs tomorrow.

It's not the AC drains... realised how easy it was to check them so just been out now. I'll check the roof gully tomorrow...
I don't think it's the sunroofs as they've been sealed for a while now, and when they did leak, the water would come out of the B-pillars straight down my neck!

Let's hope it's not heater matrix

Took SWMBO's D1 for its MOT - passed, no advisories :) :) :) :) :)

Happy days , is always a nerve racking experience

I had the Worst luck when I had my last mot , because the back door lock failed shut whilst on the mot ramp , dealer wanted to rip the door card off and give me a bill for around £500 , done it myself for £60 quid, took it back for a free retest , passed, no advisories

We have a local MOT testing station that does nothing else, so when anything fails they aren't looking to do the work.

£500 !:mad::mad: - One thing I noticed with our A-Plan policy was that if "it" fails the MOT, then Ins cover reduces to Act insurance - which means if you have an accident, you're probably going to be seriously up sh*t creek  .... just something to be aware of....

+1 - and always go as scruffy as you can manage on the day, with a nice clean car ;) - I.E. scruffy means you've got no money ;) , but you look after the car, so ....

Preparing for changing the clutch. Have removed cross-members, propshafts, front exhaust, starter motor, viscous fan, center console and gear lever. Have disconnected crank sensor, clutch slave cylinder, reverse light switch and hand brake cable. Drained transfer box and gearbox oils. I need to remove plate by gear lever so I can use my engine hoist and move middle section of exhaust aside.

I am feeling a little daunted and wondering should I have just taken it to a garage.

I am working tomorrow and will continue on Friday.

Does removing the small plate by the gear lever provide enough space for hoisting?
