Be careful how you say that.
First it’s CV type joints on the front and back, with a conventional UJ in the middle of the rear near the bearing I think.
When 1 of the front 1s went it was a clicking not a whine.

Oh and it’s not a simple 30min drop the prop job :vb-groan2: .

Got mine running after blowing apart one of the oil cooler pipes and spraying all my dirty oil all over everything .
Fingers crossed it's not damaged any thing !!
I've just looped a bit of pipe bypassing the oil cooler and filled her up with oil , to see what's what .
Do I even need a oil cooler ??

I have one, and I love it, especially after being in the desert. While I never sprayed oil all over the place you did, I did when changing the oil... Took almost a year for the stains to fade away on the pavement on the drive way...

I doubt a cooler would have been fitted if it's not needed, I assume it's the engine oil cooler?

Could be PS or transmission oil cooler, engine oil coolers are generally oil/coolant not oil/air as an aid to getting the engine and heater up to temperature quickly.
Depending upon which system it's on, that 'bit of pipe' might not be secured well enough (or rated at high enough pressure) to last very long.

The bit of pipe was only a temporary fix , to see if it would run . It did so now I'll swap that bit of pipe for a bit of hydraulic hose , double jubilee clipped on .
Then I'll run it like that to see if any nasty knocks , rattles or bangs happen . Then , if it's all good a permanent fix will happen !

Bastid bastid bastid bastid.

Anyone within an hour of lancashire got a spare slide pin or better still a complete caliper carrier???

Took the family into town today, strong smell of diesel on the way back. Number 4 injector leak off pipe split at the nipple, great German engineering, they seem to last for ever on my Transit.

Having recently changed employers to one that doesn't insist on working Saturdays, we took a very pleasant 250mile round trip to Yorkshire to buy some pies from Stanforths, then went to Malham Tarn to eat the warm ones! (we left a few bits of crust in memory of Ruby our GSD, it was her absolute favourite place!) as a bonus, the DPF is now empty and the gearbox has settled down to altogether smoother changes.
