Going to mums today I travel a fast 60mph stretch which drops the RR to motorway height. When it came to the time to go back to standard all 4 lights flashing and EAS fault on dash, didn't drop to bumpstops though and no 35 MPH warning. Always carry EAS software , cable and a HP& stream7 . Plugged in only fault Air supply interrupt. Cleared faults and fine. Weather not got above 1deg C today so maybe, maybe something to do with that. Any thoughts anyone :confused:
Main thought is use the dash button to lock it at motorway height to stop pointless height changes and the associated wear and tear on the compressor.

Often do that Keith but when going up lane and onto allotment need to use variable heights. If this cold is going to last a while I will do :vb-tup:

It must be very rough up the lane and onto allotment to need height changes. Unless there are deep ruts, the P38 will clear most things at motorway height. I use wade height from time to time, when the road here is flooded, and also to trigger the sensor that lets me into the ground floor of the multi storey car park reserved for high vehicles. Never had a problem with height changes even in minus 17C. It's pretty warm under the bonnet (especially with no viscous fan) so I would be surprised if icing up is a problem unless your dryer is knackered. If the dryer is past it's best, check for water in the storage tank.

Check pump output.
 
When in Germany most of us put a battery blanket and an engine bay blanket under the bonnet. I always stuck a sign on the steering wheel to remind me to remove it before setting off. I don't think we've been cold enough to need it here yet, but it's getting close.
Waking this comment up. It was cold as a cold thing, on a cold day, in a cold place today. Took 2 cans of de-icer , a kettle of warm water, and 2 hrs to get one door open today. Then had to climb from back, as it was rear passenger that was able to be opened. Tried to start her and she was NOT happy. So had to pop bonnet, climb back out, attach jump box, climb back in , and start her. Then climb back out remove jump, and climb back in. 🤦‍♀️
Hence back to the post I just awakened. Anyone know what those blankets were called? They were a special type of 'cloth'. A sort of grey colour , with specks of colours and edged in what might have been leather. They could be bought at most service stations. Mine was supplied by Volvo with my car.
It now seems I need to start using one again. Can anyone help with name or manufacturer,,or even the type of material used?

The evaporator in the heater box is warmed by the heater circuit so unlikely to freeze but the aircon will not kick in until the coolant has warmed up.
I was thinking more practical than that, seals freezing and cracking, impurities in the circuit freezing in the pump etc.. What's the feeding point of the UV dye they put in?
Previous car i had, there was something in the manual about it being temp controlled, can't remember what the minimum ambient temp was though.

The P38 book state no aircon below 5C but it's not true as mine certainly works in ambient temperatures below 5C once everything has warmed up. I can tell by the speed with which the mist on the windows disappears.
