Right next question - the wheel nutz have those thin walled covers designed to fit over the locking wheel nut on ever bolt. The tool in the boot pulled the one off the locking nut but nothing would remove the others, other than destroying them…thoughts, are they designed for all the wheel nuts and is there a hack to get them off. Had I had to change a wheel at the roadside, those covers would have defeated me??
The covers only come off with something like an angle grinder:eek:

Starting next repair

Well i have just changed the starter motor as it seamed to be dragging the battery down as it dose not like starting when hot and nearly flattened the new battery that or the new bat is iffy, not a fun job as i cracked a rib doing stuff yesterday especially when your leaning over in the engine bay and the small hop up slides away from the motor :(
spins over better and hopefully the intank pump will arrive and that sorts it properly.

Ha! I did that changing the starter on my tratter, headbutted the washer bottle on the way. I've got myself one of them things that hook over the tyre now but not had to use it yet.

I have one off those in the van for scraping the ice of the front screen as i cant reach but was to tall for the starter job, i often use the caravan steps.

Bought it a presant, well myself but it has the range rovers numberplate on it so same difference really,
So just doing a new loom and lights on the car trailer iv decided I want led as i have on my little trailer but at the moment i use an inline 7pin canbus adapter to stop flickering and keep indicators normal speed,

Iv also decided I want to 13pin plug the range rover to suit rather then having the seperate 12s and 12n sockets so il need to program the led lights

True that, think every big car iv had all had paint/ scrapes etc on bumpers.
That’s older cars though keep rust chasing, once iv sorted this I’m not spending a fortune on it, I’ll weld it myself, get a mate who’s a sprayer to do the paint one weekend, where it meets rear bumper I’m thinking good grinder with flap disc, clean up then very heavy zinc galv spray to hold it back followed by paint, should keep it back for couple of years by that time something else will need painting probably.
Go for a 4.2 if you can, I do big miles but it’s paid for as a subby so not fussed about fuel, averaging about 15mpg locally and 23/25 on a run. Seats seem very comfy (06) so pre facelift seats with the massive headrests, very quiet and quick coming from td6.
My other half goes mad, did loads on my td6, now advertised on here and marketplace, she’s like why do all that to do it all over again.. something to do at weekends.
There is genuinely no need for the size of head rests they got 🤣, if the passenger seat is left in an ackward place you can look left out the rear window at ackward junctions,

Bought a Foxwell NT 530, plugged it in and got more codes than a bletchley park reunion. will be working through them one at a time. Some good things seem to be happening regards the steering feel and the overall 'seating' of the vehicle. Apparently engine is running at 790 revs instead of 760 which is probably air getting into the system due to my reluctance to tighten the recently changed fuel filter up too much for fear of shearing the connection. Apart from that the dreaded trans failure prog warning has gone for now and hasn't returned despite deliberately 'gunning' the Old girl to see if it can be trigged. I think it would be easy to become obsessed with all the code read outs....I think I will do the bare minimum and enjoy what I've got while I've got it!

silly question back on the fool filter.. in previous lives, i've seen a drain tap at the bottom of the filter which lets you drain water, but also drain the filter before you take it off to replace it
this one just has an electric gizmo with no drain that i can see. does that mean you can't drain it, just replace it and just hope you dont spill everywhere?
what happens if you get a bad fill!?

Just been and got some tires fitted, mate of mine who does forestry work had a set of general grabber at3 barely used that were not mud enough for him so I got them, cars more of a monster truck now 265 65 17.

Yeah, they used a more closed pattern on the AT3 making them almost useless off-road. Not so good on snow either. Still, should last a while and what a price!

I doubt much air gets in at the fuel filter. Inlet manifold / breathers more likely.

Mine randomly has a slow start but then works perfectly for weeks / months afterwards and I did wonder about the starter motor. It was off eBay to be fair.

Yeah, think td5 was last I've seen with a water drain

Well the new vdo intank pump arrived today at 11am so out i went and all jacked up and changed and cleared away by 3pm and it was a job i have been dreading but it all comes out quite easy, one off the elbows out of the old pump was a bit crusty had to work at getting the nut off nearly snapped the pipe.
