booked an AC regas at ProTyre. In case it's useful the website has a 25% discount at the moment, so it's £44.99.
Not sure how long the deal will last.

I've not regassed mine since I changed the condenser and TXV. That might have been a decade ago. Still excellent.

Finally got 10 mins last night to try and break the tapers on the swivel. Needless to say it won’t let go. I’ve ordered a fork to compliment the bj splitter. So will give it a go next week. Only the bjs to remove then and I can start reassembly.

Have you tried the two hammer trick, not easy but maybe?

Did my brake fluid, pollen filters (a bit carpet looking😬), used the steering damper from my scrapper. Then oil and filter tomorrow.
The terrafirma damper lasted 5 yr and leaked everywhere, the britpart cellular lasted 2yr and leaked everywhere 🤷‍♂️ the old unit from the scrapper had resistance in both directions and is now fitted. An original landrover part as well. 👍

Roger, double ball hammers, no success. I’ll clamp on the splitter and crank on it whilst using the fork to split the other. I think if one wasn’t as stubborn as the other it would work. They both seem to be hanging for grim death. I’m not in a rush tbh

Thinking my new mf31 battery may be duff i has been on charge since Tuesday and my tester says there is only 570cca not the 1000cca stated and it went down fast on Tuesday trying to start the car, off on holiday in it Sunday will see if a long drive to Wales brings it up, i will take my tester with me and a spare battery and leads.

Mine was the same, it lasted 6 months though, never rated them myself even the one on my Discovery only lasted 1yr before dying.

Yuassa I replaced it with hasn't been charged once in 2yrs, even with 8-10weeks of inactivity it still spins her over like a top ;)

I have 6 Hankook batteries including two MF31-1000, never given me any trouble, the one my RHD P38 must be about 8 years old now.

8 years is a fair stint for a car battery, but you keep them topped up, maybe some manufacturers are more sensitive/tolerant than others
Have you measured the load voltage on the 8 year old lately?
