Spun the back out of my cheap height sensor that failed. The reason for failure was water ingress. The OEM part has 2 O rings on the shaft. The cheapo has a very nice brass (bronze?) bearing for the shaft but no O rings on the shaft itself, just one rather poor fitting one on a plastic boss at the end of the shaft. I think the second one has failed now so time to buy a proper one.

When i looked on first the other day, said 9250 miles to next service.. started engine today and message on dash 'service required' o_O

That’s nothing to worry about that’s it’s basically dumping the excess air when you don’t need the extra power any more, if you really gunned it going forward and really did quick gear changes you would hear it aswell when it was boosting high and then needed to dump it when changing gears.

Reset the oil service today, that was easy enough.
It also reset the accumulated soot in oil counter, whatever that is

My dpf soot level is still unchanged at 12g
This really doesn't sound right to me. Broken/fake/bypassed sensor? Anything i can check? Don't want it biting my on the ass o_O

How long have you driven it for since you reset/ regen’d it? In my experience some cars with certain things will take a long long time to register new levels for certain things. For instance my sisters c4 would take around 4 days or so of lots of driving to register that there was enough ad-blu added to the tank for it to take away the low warning.

I've done about 3500 since i got the car, and had the diag for about 2000 miles. I've never requested a regen via diag and reset the oil service yesterday.
In those 2000 miles only figured out how to get live data in the last 1500. Since then soot grams (12g) and remaining volume (0) haven't changed
I just struggle to believe that every time i check, the grand just happens to be the same and why isn't the car in limp mode if there's no volume remaining?
Ignorance is bliss etc but I'd rather know what I'm up against
 
Given what I've read in the recent epb thread, i recon i should have a look at mine. Do they wear out or is it a case of maintenance.. clean/lube/adjust?

Keeping them adjusted is the key, or just dont use it;). They dont really wear out as they are only applied at stop under normal circumstances.
Think they recommend 50K cycles then cables need doing.
