my vm's one way valve in the breather blocked up and that caused a vacuum in the tank which gave similar symptoms. Had to pressurise the tank with an airline to blow it back into shape. The breather is behind the n/s rear light cluster / rear pillar but probably the opposite as you have the handlebars on the other side. Do the filter as well.
Thanks for that, I don't think the tank was getting a vacuum, when I took the cap off there was no suction apparent, mind you I would have been better off trying that with the engine running :oops: So something else to check. A bit more "job enrichment" as we used to say.

It happened after driving a while, drawing fuel from the tank. My mate had the same wth an Opel Ascona

To be honest as soon as I pulled off my drive I felt something wasn't quite right, initially thought it was just a cold damp morning causing it. This after a prolonged fairly quick run yesterday, and the fuel being now quite low in the tank. All things that sort of go through your mind as your trying to fault find on the move.
No way could I miss my appointment this afternoon, so just trusted to luck and got on with it.

So today decided to drain the sedimenter and see how things went from there, still catching up with the new owner service, too much else to do.
Got under her and NNNNOOOOOOOOOO, the frigging drain cock on the sedimenter has been snapped off by a previous owner.
Briefly thought about taking the unit off to work on it, quite a bit of pressure put on 1st tube union, nothing doing, so instead of risking a snapped something or other decide to do the repair in situ. Well that was a barrel of fun, drilling upside down into the nylon plug with a nice dribble of cruddy fuel to make things interesting. Ran a 8 x 1.25 mm tap up the thread and screwed in a short 8mm hex bolt with a small copper washer to make a seal.
That actually worked, gave the doris the option of washing my fleece/jersey/trousers or me chucking them in the bin after using all available clothing I was wearing at the time to mop up the diesel spill as I worked.
Road tested and miles better, not 100% so tomorrow I'll try pushing some clean fuel through the pipes and then change the fuel filter (good job I've got one in stock).

Sorry I should have said, make sure you have a new plastic drain plug before you touch the sedimenter.;)

Some may recall I have had a problem with the MAF being faulty, but the brand new one appears to have the exact same symptoms so been told to check the wiring.... In the meantime, my leak came back :(

It has been leaking out of the throttle body heater since pretty much the day I got it, but it's got worse to the extent it spits it out over the leads on the left bank, causing ANOTHER bloomin misfire.

So I decided to purchase a replacement gasket....except they don't do just the gasket, so 24 quid later I get a small kit that I need to stick on to stop the leak.

Anyone done it? Should I apply some icky sticky or just slap it on as is? (Normally I would apply gasket sealant, but I don't want to risk it causing some malady which will cause it to start leaking all over again o_O )

Other than that, I have a whole 'nother EAS valve block & pump and a "O" ring kit and new NRV's so they're getting done starting today... Then hopefully get George up & down like a lady of the evenings undie's :p

Most usually just bypass the throttle body heater 6mm diameter tubing If memory serves me right. If your hell bent on doing the gasket bit of sealer won't go amiss

I did think of a by pass, but it's been designed and built to have it so who am I to question the judgement of the great man who also thought of sticking a BECM next to feet where in winter all manner of wet & cold can cause unknown mayhem? :D

Bearings are now done, pax side came out nice and easy, drivers side was a pig, 30T press couldn't get it out, had to buy a new hub, and as told before, had to replace the hight sensor too, it was rusted and I broke it!! anyway its don (only took 4 years to get around to do it!)

Like Dave says just bypass it , only takes an hours work and then never any more leaks, its not needed in this country, doesn't get cold enough.

Dunno about that, it's been under 3c most nights the past week so far. It's going to get worse too. Besides, I already bought the parts. o_O

Today I mostly replaced the heater o rings and a blend motor, only had the rings for three years and the motor for about eight. Don't know what I disconnected taking the dash apart but the cruise control doesn't work now. It's a diesel so no to vacuum pipes.☺
