Used the tape deck for the 1st time since ownership, I serviced the deck when I stripped the head unit down a while back :D:D

Kicked the living sh×t out ov it, nose down lookin sorry for itself, then all normal at next start up, twot, now throwin a wobbley with the heater as i freeze my nuts off. Its a good job i love it.

Did a run to Banff to visit sis & bro in law (again) to fix my stuuuuupid Microsoft windows 10 craptop...

Anyway, on the way home I set the cruise at 70mph. There are 10 towns & villages to either go through or bypass, so plenty roundabouts and whatnot.

So, the reason for the long winded is I had to slow down and/or stop a heap of times, but I managed to return an astounding:

19.7mpg

That's the best I have EVER managed in this car, and at a decent rate of knots too :)

Used it to tow the Merc to the garage, turns out I've blown the hydraulic hoses for the right hand side dampers and killed the ABC pump because it ran dry (bastard thing has only been on for a year). Need to get rid of the Merc, or stop being lazy and do my own work on it. On the plus, the bus is still super reliable, ordered some fabric and contact glue so I can try and sort out the roof lining.

My E320 had had a metal pipe replaced, but badly. So the join gave way as I turned into my parking space. First I knew of it was the steering wheel icon and an advisory to visit the dealer.... Shove that, removed the pipe, had it properly flared at a Merc indi, and refitted it. Mercedes wanted 16 quid per litre for the oil. Shove that, it's simple JCB hydraulic oil so I got some from work for free :D Still got about 4 gallons of the stuff in a drum.

It was fiddly to remove the pipe, but the worst bit was removing the under arch plastic. Mercedes are so well made as far as the mechanic is concerned. Much easier than Range Rover

Well I took it to a Merc indy (only one around here, no main Merc dealer) and the guy outright refused the job. He said the last one he did took 12 hours and he doesn't want the work, but only after charging me £100 to look at it, and then told me to just scrap it. Took it to the normal indy I use and he can't see how it'd take 12 hours (immortal last words maybe?).

I hear newer Mercs are far better quality, but after my experinces with this one, I ain't ever going to find out. Give me a Range Rover any day of the week.

Window 10 better than 8 but still a lot to be desired. You need need to edit the security policy to stop them stripping all your info out and tracing your keystrokes etc.

Drove her to the local tip, and unlike a few months ago didn't want to leave her there.Instead dropped of a carpet and then headed to garage, bought her some fuel and went home. It's sooooo good to have her back but please don't tell her ;)

Drove it from se London to Southampton and back just to give me newly fixed cooling system a work out, did collect the mother in law. Averaged 22mpg

After getting my ankle x-rayed, took George up the hill into the snow and gave her a damn good thrashing :D

Like....WOW

Yeah, driving the mother-in-law should give the cooling system a damn good thrashing. There's a Les Dawson joke in here somewhere.

It was a decent test of the cooling system and repair work, recent rad followed by hose and o rings at the heater matrix. I would usually drive locally for a week or so just to be sure but 5 hour round trip called for comfort. I did have my AA card just in case :D

Put a set of genuine RRC alloys on mine today, mate wanted some wolf rims I had with very old G90's on, he just happened to have bought a written off 110 that had the alloys on and so we did a swap, bonus being I got a set of tyres as well 4 with good amounts of tread left and a bald spare. Only loosley put the alloys on as it was so bleeding cold out this afternoon, have to check the rims and tyres in the next couple of days and put them on properly, then see how it drives. Even complete with RR centre caps. Result. :D:D:D:D
