Sorry I am late to the V8 bashing, I have a derv so just got home. Ha! Another broken V8. Sucks to be you... am I doing it right?

Not bad for a first attempt. There are a couple of key words that ideally should be in the response: slipped liner; valley gasket; butler; oil leaks; lambda sensors; cheese cam; petrol pump; porous block; bejazzle.

Was behind one today, N plate, noticed a tiny wee exhaust on just the one side.

Looked all wrong to me.

The only thing that slips faster than the liners is the amount of time between visits to the petrol pump.

So much oil leaks out of a V8, every time you park somewhere America tries to invade.

The block is so porous, after the liners slip most get a new job as a colander.

I think I am getting the hang of this now.

After ignoring tiny for the last few weeks I put the repainted rear caliper back on refitted wheel so that's 3 done 1 to go.

Battery is flat so either a drain or knackered. Went to charge remembered I had a new battery terminal to fit sorted that and dug out my solar charger and that is ready to be connected once battery is fully charged. I plan to wire a cig lighter socket in the boot for the panel if it works.

Fired her up for the first time in 3 weeks (I too have a solar panel, and a 12v on the parcel shelf support). Purring, so I took her round a few local lanes, then got home and treat her to some snow foam.

Did the heater O rings with Stufer's guide. 4 hours. Didnt bother taking photos as its a well documented game! I have since found threads of people fussing over how the seals sat as they have experienced leaks afterwards.... now worried! think I got it right through.

Quick question - my P38 has a few gaps in service history - I would like to do a few jobs in order to maintain rather than discover wear later - greasing UJs etc? Can anyone suggest a list of things you would get done if you bought one and weren't sure of service history? It is a 99 Thor 4.0 - has a Turner block and is on coils so no need to worry about air maintenance. And I love the coils so please don't have 'get back to air' at the top of the list! ;)

Replaced my broken DSP amp and the HEVAC unit as LCD display had gone on the fritz. Need to re-calibrate blend motors with Faultmate though. Next jobs are Valley gasket and rocker cover gaskets.

Removed my turbo for a refurb and attempted to remove my intercooler (without success!), what a pig of a job the intercooler is turning out to be.

drove it for the first time in 2 weeks started 1st time of course.
set the cabin temp turned on my heated seat opened the window turned up the radio and enjoyed every minute.

lpg kit arrived today will have to factor in a few days off at the end of the month to fit it

Another years MOT couple of advisories, seat belt stitching slightly frayed ns/r, slight corrosion on brake hose ferrules, nothing to worry about really, I was under it recently when I replaced the shocks and gave it a good check, seems they're getting more fussy about things these days.
